Watching a little TV and an ad for this came on, I had an 80's flashback.

Lol, I'm sure they've always been around....14 bucks for a knife with no tang...that's gotta be quality.
|
|
That is tempting. I had a box of about a dozen of those I had collected over the years, sold them when we had a yard sale a couple years ago for more than I had paid and then regretted it
|
|
I still have mine from the eighties. I've never even taken out the saw, fishing line, or whatever else is in the handle.
|
|
Must have!! It comes with a Band-Aid. Shit, Where else could I get one of those? And at this great price?

I saw that.
A whole new generation exposed to cheap Chinese crap survival knives. There is hope for this country's children yet. In my day it was Rambo but I guess the prepper crowd is as good an excuse as any to peddle real boy's toys. |

Well, I suppose its better then a moderately sharp point stick
|
|
Just $14.99!
Plus $7.50 processing and handling fee. AND...we'll throw in a FREE paracord bracelet! For another $7.50 processing and handling fee.. |

I pounded in quite a few tent stakes with the compass, pruned my mothers rosebush with the saw and used the matches to melt some army guys and model planes. After I destroyed my mom's bush I never saw that knife again. |

I like AreoEngineer's Choice - a magnificent $200+ Boker Plus Apparo - Outdoor Knife - now that's quality for a lifetime!
Discounted to about $135 on certain sites such as Knife Center. |

I believe I'll order one and have it shipped to my friend's house.
Then I'm gonna print that ad out, give it to my kid, let him convince me to let him order one, take him to the post office to buy a money order, put it all in an envelope and mail it off to the same friend. After two months I'll tell my friend to mail the knife on to us in a plain box with no packaging or paperwork. |

I left sooo many of those broken and shattered throughout the woods I lived in when I was a kid.
I even had one of the camo-handled ones. Did anyone ever notice they had a certain 'smell' to them? My buddy's mom took the matches out of his, I always thought she was too over-protective. I did try to use the piano-wire saw, and it ended in failure. AAhhhhhhh....the joys of 80's kid-ness. |

Get that knife and a set of nunchucks and you're all set for 1982.

I bought a cheapie one from Harbor Freight a few years ago.
Yes, I know it is a POS, no, I don't care. Parents wouldn't let me have one back in the 80s, even though all my friends did. Take that mom and dad! I have my very own Rambo knife. It just oozes quality. |
|
I couldn't resist buying one at Harbor Freight a few years ago.
I put an edge on it with the angle grinder and have used it to cut kindling in the woods with the kids. No way would I ever trust it but hey.......... it works. |

Why the hell did everything take 6-8 weeks to ship back then? I owned 2 of those POS knives back in the day. The first was the plastic handle model that I promptly broke the blade off of. I then ordered an aluminum handle model to "upgrade" and broke that one as well. |

I'm actually kind of glad to see they are still making those. They are utter pieces of shit as knives go; but great nostaligia value. It brings back all of my memories of trying to "survival camp" with one of those. Many good lessons for a boy there. |
