There were also a couple people that died when a giant wave from the mother fucking ocean buried them in a world of shit. Just a couple. |

Quoted: I got to thinking: What would the world be like if, say, 3 years from now 90% of the Earth's entire population (100% in crowded cities and shithole countries) was dead from mutated corona virus? Things would surely get interesting. View Quote That would stop civilization cold. Not enough people to run the grid, utilities, internet, manufacturing, agriculture, transportation. And not enough knowledgeable people will survive to rebuild. We would be back to a pre-industrial society quickly. |

Quoted: What's odd about it? Wouldn't a respiratory virus survive better during "flu season?" View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: /media/mediaFiles/sharedAlbum/476-342.gif Aren't they heading into their flu season? Odd coincidence... What's odd about it? Chernobyl would be a more apt analogy.
Power, temperature, reactivity, and so forth ... Fukushima is a poor example, unless the author or person they quoted thinks Brazil is already past the worst of their epidemic and just can't find a way to deal with those who are already sick or dead without devolving into unmitigated disaster. |

Quoted: Did we ever get an explanation why india allegedly has less deaths than the US View Quote According to my Indian coworker who is in Hyderabad, a ton of people died, but they are mainly "dalits" or lower caste, so nobody gives a shit. Edit to add- I don't trust his usage or scale of "ton". His grasp of English is basic and a lot of stuff is lost on him. |

I'd kinda like to go back to journalism of the mid-20th century, when they report what did happen, and did NOT project what might happen.
Hell...there is a non-zero probability that a massive celestial body moving at a speed incalculable by humans is on a trajectory to slam into the sun tomorrow and end our entire solar system, leaving nothing but plasma in its wake. I'm still going to put the garbage out though, because there is a higher probability that it won't happen. |

My bro-in law is a doc down there. While we were there in January he said he saw lots of cases; but rarely fatal.
He says this newer version of the virus is much worse. And quick acting. My wife’s childhood friend died today in Brazil from the virus as well. |
