Anybody with a 20” 3/8 72link stihl want an extra chain? I have this new in the package I never got around to using. I recently sold my stihl and picked up an echo. Make me an offer.

A guy stopped by and brought his new Stihl 500i. I made one cut with a 20" bar yesterday in a 28" ash log. That was all it took. Wow!
I can definitely see why there is a waiting list, |

What was that company that used to sell the Stihl copy saw kits? I searched and can't seem to find them any more. Hertlz or Hutzle or something like that? Did they go out of business?
Thought it might be fun to pick up one of those knock off saw kits and build one to tinker with. |

There's a lightly used 500i on local trader for $1k.
Only way it could be hurt would be if it had been run with straight gasoline. Been looking at them since they were first in stores. Very tempting. I have a MS440 and it has been plenty of saw but the heart wants what the heart wants. |

500i put in some work yesterday dropping 4 ash trees (20-30” at the base). Limbed them out in the woods and brought them up in logs to the splitter. Wife was bucking them with the 362 while I split them. It was a long day but we put up a bunch of wood.
All our ash trees are dying….I’ve got probably 10 more to come down this year. |

I keep debating one of their saws for when I need to slab out a big oak to get it to fit on our Woodland Mills sawmill. Just picked up a Stihl MS290 yesterday at a local estate auction. Debating modding it for more power and speed, anyone have any suggestions? Our primary cutting in the area is usually large oak and pine, mostly it's dropping them, limbing them out for firewood, and then running the trunks through the sawmill. Have got the mentioned Stihl 290, a Husky 460 with a 24" bar, a Stihl 241, and a Stihl 180. Semper Fi |

Years back I bought a MS461 for a massive red oak that fell on the hill behind the house. I never finished bucking it as it's kind of dangerous the way it's laying, and I don't think even my 50HP Ford tractor can move it. One day I'll get it bucked, but it'll likely be junk by then. Here I was cutting just the tops and was almost to the point where my 28" bar was just making it through the other side. The dag was a good helper too. She's a special pup. |
