Jem, 24, has started losing sleep over the climate emergency. "Over the last two years, I have felt growing anxiety at the state of the environment. It keeps me up at night," Jem, who works in nature conservation in Somerset, says. "I worry about what future I should be planning for."
Jem says it has contributed to them taking medication for their mental health. "I am on antidepressants but I don't think this is a solution. Things like antidepressants can't fix things when it's an external problem. It's the world we have created that is causing these issues. "Our mental health is so intrinsically tied to everything around us that we constantly see on the news. Even if you try and tune it out, you're not going to be able to. It's so out of our control. I know the science and the stark realities of it. There's no fix to the anxiety because you know [the climate] is going to get worse." Jem is one of scores of young people who shared their distress over the climate emergency with the Guardian. In a recent survey by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), almost three-quarters (73%) of 16- to 24-year-olds reported that the climate crisis was having a negative effect on their mental health, compared with 61% of all people in the UK. The figures were up from 61% and 55% respectively in 2020. moiar |

"I know the science" it says. No, it doesn't. It knows the narrative that it's been force-fed by all the leftist media and political doom-callers over the past few decades. It needs to get off the antidepressants before it shoots up a school. It needs to get a life. Maybe a hobby or two.

They slept fine last night |

Damn. These people need to step outside and take a breath of fresh air and look around. It is not really bad out
Reminds me of tolkiens the two towers passage when Gandalf takes Théoden outside from his halls. 'It is not so dark here,' said Théoden. 'No,' said Gandalf. 'Nor does age lie so heavily on your shoulders as some would have you think. Cast aside your prop!' From the king's hand the black staff fell clattering on the stones. He drew himself up, slowly, as a man that is stiff from long bending over some dull toil. Now tall and straight he stood, and his eyes were blue as he looked into the opening sky. 'Dark have been my dreams of late,' he said, 'but I feel as one new-awakened. I would now that you had come before, Gandalf |

FPNI. These kids' parents failed them by not countering school and peer bullshit.

It’s a study from the fucking British Counselling Association, or something. Typical British shit. Go drink some tea, pussies.

I think one way to overcome climate change is more immigration. I think everyone would agree that the world’s population is a driving force in climate change. By letting people out of overpopulated 3rd world places and move into the US and other western countries we will ease the burden on the overpopulated places so they may continue to reproduce without placing undue stress on their ecosystems. This continued redistribution of the world’s populace will contribute greatly to alleviating the climate crisis.

These things will happen when you allow narcissists to run your life instead of hanging them from lamp posts where they belong. Narcissists cause mental distress.

Kids are getting hammered day in and day out at their schools with this crap.
Like so many bad and evil things these days, "Thank a teacher." The Education Industry is dedicated to the creation of Ignorance, Anxiety, and Mental Illness. One must see this with his eyes open and seek to become educated in spite of it, not by it. A wise woman once told me, "Don't trust your teachers. Learn from them, but don't trust them." Good advice then, better advice now! "Teach your children well." |

When i was a teen , i worried about nuclear war with the Soviets.
Had a nightmare or 2 about it. Lost a little sleep , so what? That was it , never needed to tell the world , never needed counseling , or medication. This was a very real threat. We got over it. Now the climate emergency bullshit has kids and adults taking medication?? WTF? |
|
Please, whatever you do young people, do not go outside and enjoy nice warm sunny days.
It’s awful |

Why do you think critical thinking skills aren't often found as a subject matter in schools? The only places I ever saw them taught as a matter of routine practice was during specialty gifted classes, and a handful of college courses. 95% of students never were contaminated by the virus of learning how to deconstruct what they're told. |

No, the media (social and “news”) and the politicians are taking a toll on mental health. Turn that shit off, it’s the technology version or quitting smoking and drinking.

I feel bad for kids these days. They grow up in an environment of doom porn that was once something you intentionally had to seek out. Now it’s in your face 24/7.
I think doom/fear/clickbait/modern media is 90% of the root cause of the mental health crisis in this country. I can’t blame kids for being anxious when the adults that are supposed to be modeling rational thought are instead fearful children themselves being led by the news cycle through the latest panic porno. |

The problem is stupidity, not youth.
Stop being dumb. Stop hanging around dumb people. Find something to do that makes you feel a bit dumb until you are better at it, and then find something new. Collect skills not body count. |

When I was a child in elementary school, we read "Chicken Little", perhaps this age-old wisdom should be taught all over again. "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" was on the menu as well.
