It was really humid here last weekend. They're not uncommon to see off the rear wings of F1 cars and Indy cars too.

Wow! They were still running the 1/4 when I last watched drag racing. I remember hitting 300mph being a big deal then.

When your 0 to 60 foot times are less than 1 second and speeds are more than 100 MPH you get an vague idea of the acceleration.

The problem is the decel from the chutes.  Don Garlits retired from top fuel because of a detached retina.  Joe Amato retired because he had suffered torn retinas.

I was there for that too.
If I’m remembering right, he wheel stranded on one run and broke one of the front wheels off and stayed in it!

Sometime in the '50s I believe some dude opined that the fastest speed a wheeled vehicle could achieve in the 1/4 was around 160 MPH. Because "science."
