Quoted: if your having problems with TPU popping and snapping. put it in a dehydrator for 24 hrs at 140F TPU absorbs moisture like crazy. and will give shitty prints if moist. |

Had mine professionally printed. Bought 5 for my fire crew. I got silicone weather stripping to obtain vacuum seal. Stuck it inside nose cone. Print material is nylon. Filter media is HEPA Kenmore vacuum cleaner bag. ![]() Open source N95 |

Came across this article. It's more aimed at sewn masks, but could be useful. mask material |

Quoted: How hard/easy is it to breathe through that material? Quoted: Quoted: Had mine professionally printed. Bought 5 for my fire crew. I got silicone weather stripping to obtain vacuum seal. Stuck it inside nose cone. Print material is nylon. Filter media is HEPA Kenmore vacuum cleaner bag. Absolute breeze. No big deal at all. I thought about doubling the filter media to two sheets. It says HEPA, by reputable manufacturer. Sure seems thin, but whatever. It is advertised as 99.7% I bought my whole crew one. Since I know they will work I have ordered wife and kids theirs. We currently have a few N95's but this will be easier. You can also use MERV 13 or higher, I believe on HVAC filters. Or the Filtrete 2500 or 2800. |

Turned out great. Attached File It fits me perfectly. Even though petg is hard it has a good face seal. Holds the filter material very well. It's pretty comfortable, I need to find a better strap material though. I'm using 3M Filtrete 1500. It's MERV 12 rating. Not perfect but I figure it's better than a a bandana. Very easy to breathe through. It's way too big for my wife. I'm going to either try the smaller version 2 model or scale this one down a bit. |

This may possibly be about the best filter material that isn't hacked from other sources https://filti.com/product/filti-face-mask-material/ |

Blue shop towels might be a good option. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/homemade-mask-using-hydro-knit-shop-towel-filters-better-2020-4%3famp |

Along similar lines I came across a nurse on Twitter who’s husband printed these Attached File She’s got it posted on Thingiverse now |

Quoted: I got one of the masks printed up. Maybe I can dip it in hot water and get it to fit my face but I thought this might be a problem, I got a funny shaped head, large yet narrow with a prominent nose. Sunglasses never fit me either. Sanitizing will be soap and water unfortunately. |
|
Quoted: I tried searching and didn't see one posted some I'm tracking on to this thread. Is there anyone that's able to make a 3M bayonet adapter so we can use our own filter media? I have several half face respirators, but I'm almost out of the 2097 filters. A search on thingiverse shows several adaptors. |

Quoted: If your printed mask does not fit perfect, purchased some of this stuff below, sliced it down the middle, and used a single bead inside my mask to line it to get a seal. www.amazon.com/dp/B07YRS91XH I've been looking for TPU sources that can ship in any reasonable amount of time, and its unobtainium. There is some on Amazon now, but you won't get it for 3 weeks. |

And here it is with the gasket, since it is going to be printed, there is no need for it to be completely circular. Attached File |

Yeah, that sure is an easy design to get injection molding going. I wonder how well it seals on the face w/o the filer being form fitted? Maybe more of a surgical mask type substute? |

Got my order of Filti material just now. came in a UPS bag, just the material (folded) in the UPS bag, no inner bag. Once I figure out how I'm going to sanitize this stuff, I'll give it a try. It looks interestingly thin. If its easy enough to breathe through while doubled up, I think I will go with that. Will report back later. |

Got this email back tonight (the email I sent was this afternoon, and they sent this at 7:30, so excellent CS!) Hi Rat_Patrol, The temperature it can undergo is 150F. Overall, 56C or 132.8F exposed for at least 30 min kills off/rapidly reduces the SARS coronavirus. Do not iron. Please let me know if you have further questions! -- Wishing you health and wellness, -Filti Team |
