In Yorktown VA for a few months.
What are the best hot dogs available in local supermarkets in your opinion? Going to a daughters friends house - and told them I would bring some. Apart from Hebrew Nationals? |
|
Go to southern packing in Chesapeake and get some Norfolk Dogs. They are the best and have snap.

You mean people actually choose to eat hotdogs?
Always figured that was a food of desperation when other food sources are scarce. |

FPNI
But watch the Nathan's hot dog eating contest on the 4th OP. Then you might change your mind to making a brisket or pulled pork. |
|
Hoffman's.
Not sure how widely available they are in VA though. |

View Quote If you buy good hotdogs it's just another German sausage. No Oscar Myers, Nathan's, Hebrew National, or Ball Parks allowed in my house. Hoffman's, Boars Head, or the local German meat shop. |

It seems like you can't buy beef & pork hot dogs anymore, at least everywhere I've looked. Most dogs today are 100% beef or a mixture of pork beef, chicken, or turkey. @Thorozine
What I wouldn't give for a beef & pork hot dog. |

You can tell who the poors are by their non-cropping of screen captures.
Haven't tried Boar's Head, but the rest of their meat is good. Oh, they have a great deli mustard, too. Nathans, if you can find the natural casing ones are excellent, and you're probably too far to get Sabrett's. |

Dammit. Now I want wieners for lunch.
A good chili dog is always great — chili, onions, jalapeños, and cheddar. But I also like mustard and relish. And sauerkraut. Two dogs, a bag of chips, and a can of Coke brings back memories of long ago summers. |
|
You already said it—Hebrew Nationals.
If you can’t buy that, Nathan’s and Boars Head. |
|
Quoted: Syracuse brand, they're pretty good, but still on the "plain" side, kinda like Zweigel's. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Publix carries Hoffman's. For store bought you ain't going to find better besides Boar's Head. Now if I want a tier 1 hot dog I go to Leigh's and Steigerwald's in Syracuse. So much sausage goodness. |

Suprised the hairless douche didn't recommend estrogen-laden soy dogs...
|
|
Boars head. I like Nathan’s but they only have skinless around here
|
|
Hebrew National
Like it or not, the Jews know how to make a good hot dog. |
|
|
I happen to personally know the Rabbis that oversee the Manischewitz production.
|

Anybody else find it funny that Hebrew national only puts 7 in the pack?

Kayem beef & pork natural casing.

Well, I'm stumped. I tried all the companies mentioned in this thread and none will deliver in my area. Looks like Boars Head at Publix is my only option at this moment, but I'll still dig around the web
and see what I might come up with. |

I like Ballpark Bun Length Beef hot dogs. If I'm going fancy then I get Zweigles White Hots and Red Hots.

Quoted: Nathan’s beats all else. View Quote Going to have to try those again. I buy natural casing dogs from a local butcher that are awesome. I tried Nathan's years ago and thought the were waaaay to damn salty for my taste. Maybe I got a bad batch or is that how they really are? BTW Hebrew National is the plaln B if I dont' have any from the butcher. |

In PA. There's a local/regional maker named "Kuntzler" they make a brand called "Juniata".
Best "Lips and assholes" I ever ate. |

Falls Brand is a local company to me so I’m not sure if they’re available nationwide, but if you know, you know.

I just bought the exact product pictured from Amazon. 8-pack Pork & Beef hot dogs (3 packs), shipping included, for $46 and change. It works out to almost $2 bucks each, but I don't care. These are exactly what I've been looking for. If we like them, I'll continue to buy tis brand. I'll let you know when they are delivered, which is between July 7-12th. |

Feltman's
Fetlman's pre-dates Nathan's as an attraction in the historic Coney Island amusement area. The business run today for the hot dogs is veteran owned. Natural casing are top notch. Haven't had the skinless and I don't plan on trying. This is the only hot dog I order now. https://www.feltmansofconeyisland.com/ |

I buy them as they are simple decent hot dogs and are very reasonable here, I pay $2.50 to $3 per pack. They're not a premium brand. |
