It has taggants , although IDK how useful that is without a chain of custody.

Quoted: You get drawn into a project to dispose of the possessions of a old neighbor who died recently. You didn't know the guy, but you get drawn in because you are a 'gun guy' and this guy had some old weapons that will be yours as a fee for helping dispose of the old mans property. You find some decent old rifles and handguns. Nothing like an engraved Artillery Luger or a crate of NIB HK P-7s. Under some boards in a closet you find 50 pounds of this stuff. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/383325/image_jpeg-2337578.JPG Alongside detonators and other accouterments. Do you call the police, keep it for your own amusement? View Quote |

Easy decision. Don’t trust anyone, and consider the customer who contracted you as being Mr ATF man. That should be a easy decision after that.
Throw in a “boating accident” comment on the way out fir good measure. |

Quoted: If it was stored properly, the shelf life is indefinite. Don’t know about the detonators but I don’t see why they also wouldn’t last a significant amount of time. View Quote Detonators start braking down and won't function correctly as they age. I've tried to use some 30+ year old detonators and only 1 in 10 would explode with enough energy to initiate c4. |

Quoted: Quoted: I would absolutely call the ATF or the Sheriff's bomb squad. Come on, what in the hell would I do with 25lbs of C4? Better to get that stuff off of the streets and into the burn pit or magazine of a responsible government agency. Isn't that an oxymoron? |

Quoted: Do detonators have a use by date on them like bread? View Quote None that I have used do. Some more modern ones may have manufactured dates and/or delays inked on detonator and lead lines. Some boxes of detonators have a manufactured month/year printed on them. The ones I used were in a box from a company that went out of business around 1975. |

I would do what any law abiding citizen would do.
I bet that is enough to deep fry a turkey in under 7 minutes. |

The story would be a lot more fun if he found a 100 meter reel of det cord. That’s what make a party fun….

Id cut them up into smaller sizes and make cherry bombs and M80s out of them. Be great for the 4th. You can cut them into smaller sizes can't you? Can you shoot them and make them go boom?

View Quote I'm thinking of a character from a Thoms Pynchon novel, Against the Day. One Kieselguhr Kid, a guy who fought with dynamite. He would draw it from his belt, which would trigger an igniter and then hurl it at his target. Full stick of dynamite. Kid go boom too. Half stick? Perhaps just the target goes boom? Tiny charge? Well that's just a flash bang? Makes a good distraction? |

Garbage like this is why I shan't bother renewing when the time comes. That, and the mods and admins having been co-opted as well. |

How many times do I have to tell you, Mr ATF man, there wasn't anything in that dude's house.

As for this being a provocative thread, I'm being no more provocative than an old article on Cracked dat cam that talked about thrift stores occasionally having to call the bomb squad because someone had donated a deceased relatives old military footlocker and forgot to check for live grenades. |
