In the syllabus, she warned that images of holy figures, including Muhammad and the Buddha, would be shown in the course. She asked students to contact her with any concerns, and she said no one did. |

For those that won't read the article, it wasn't a modern depiction, it was a 14th century painting, the students were warned and permitted to leave, and it was in a presentation with depictions of other religious figures.

After all, they founded this great country...oh wait... But muh it was built on the backs of 100,000 slaves… who mostly picked cotton in the less industrialized south.. hmm. Btw, it’s fun to agree with them sometimes. In 1492 Columbus.. guess what else happened in the 1400’s. Constantinople was sacked by Muslim invaders and is now Istanbul. Should the Turks return that to Christian hands like they want us to do with “native land”? |

Islam is a political structure, while the reformed are getting away from that style, it still exists.

Quoted: In the article: In the syllabus, she warned that images of holy figures, including Muhammad and the Buddha, would be shown in the course. She asked students to contact her with any concerns, and she said no one did. View Quote That, combined with the following: "López Prater said that no one in class raised concerns, and there was no disrespectful commentary." "After the class ended, Wedatalla, a business major and president of the university’s Muslim Student Association, stuck around to voice her discomfort." "As López Prater predicted, Wedatalla reached out to administrators. López Prater, with Baker’s help, wrote an apology, explaining that sometimes “diversity involves bringing contradicting, uncomfortable and coexisting truths into conversation with each other.”" "Wedatalla declined an interview request, and did not explain why she had not raised concerns before the image was shown. But in an email statement, she said images of Muhammad should never be displayed and that López Prater gave a trigger warning precisely because she knew such images were offensive to many Muslims. The lecture was so disturbing, she said, that she could no longer see herself in that course." "Mark Berkson, a religion professor at Hamline, raised his hand. “When you say, ‘Trust Muslims on Islamophobia,’” Berkson asked, “what does one do when the Islamic community itself is divided on an issue? Because there are many Muslim scholars and experts and art historians who do not believe that this was Islamophobic.”" "During the exchange, Baker, the department head, and Everett, the administrator, separately walked up to the religion professor, put their hands on his shoulders and said this was not the time to raise these concerns, Berkson said in an interview." What that all tells me is that adherents to Islam require everyone else to also follow the rules and requirements of Islam, whether or not you are a believer. It also tells me that people are so fearful of offending Muslims that they will not even allow debate in a forum specifically generated to address such concerns. Fuck that school, the teacher did everything right. |

Shit, should have known that was haram of arfcom! "Don't behead me, bro!" |

Why are Muslims allowed into our country to study at all? Perhaps my memory fails me, but weren't ALL of the Muslims that attacked us on 9/11/01 (provoking two 20-year wars) here on student visas?
Ditto for Chinese students, but add moar IP theft. |

Of course images of Muhammad are shocking and offensive to Muslims, that’s one goofy looking dude.

As an adjunct, she's on a semester by semester contract, and has no protections and processes afforded to a tenured or tenure-tracked professor. Her employment is at the whims of the mob, er uh, the customer, the customers' parent, whatever euphemism we choose to use. The department/school sidesteps the problem by releasing the contract employee, and the mob is placated. Until their next demands, emboldened by retreat. And, this isn't about any prophet. It's about some student[s] pissed off about a grade or workload, or whatever, and knew what buttons to push for immediate retribution. |

She would have been safer just hiking up her skirt and shitting on a Bible. Then when Christians showed up to protest they would arrested for intolerance and bigotry.
