He has always said he regrets never being in a "real large shooting" war. You still get my thanks even if you don't want it My brother never got his big war (thankfully), he got to clear mines and herd POWs after the Falklands, he did cold war stuff in West Germany, missed out on GW1 as he was in Ireland, he did a bunch of tours in Northern Ireland, lost friends, and only fired a weapon at an opposing combatant once (successfully) that he's mentioned, but he also helped train and inspire a lot of young kids, turning them into Soldiers who went into Iraq and Afghanistan, one of whom earned the Victoria Cross. |
