Nobody is bulletproof. Agreed, I’m not going down without at least firing a few shots in their general direction. Maybe I’ll get lucky and one will connect with a vital organ, or buy enough time for me and others to run away. Worst case at least people can say I went out fighting. |

The bowling alley is next to a Popeyes, check cashing place, and a Chuckie Cheese. I'm just gonna go ahead and assume some things.

I think the guy snapped and went to see the walrus.
Did anyone else have the second gun? And was this started by someone squawking out the side of their neck, talking shit? |
|
WTF. I saw info about this shooting last night and was like that's weird the shooter is my age. I just assumed it was some local who was drunk and got into a bar type fight. Really fucking weird.

Key points in the article: "People were able to get out of the building and some were able to hide while the shooting was going on," O'Shea said. "The suspect was discharging his weapon both inside and outside of the building." Witnesses who were inside at the time of the shooting tell ABC7 Webb fired off several rounds as people jumped off the bar's balcony to try and get to safety. Mike, who works at Don Carter Lanes, said he talked to the gunman shortly before the bullets started flying. "He did not seem right, so I was like, 'I got to get away from this guy,'" he said. Don Carter Lanes is now grieving the loss of the three who were regulars, releasing this statement Sunday: "A heinous act of violence by an evil coward took innocent life tonight. The entire bowling community mourns the senseless loss of life and prays for the families. God, please be with their friends and families. Thank you to law enforcement for your heroic actions that prevented further loss of life." He said the suspect tried to conceal his weapons before his arrest, and that he was apprehended without officers firing a shot. |

Another reason to carry always, dont give a shit who pulls the weapon and starts firing, they deserve to be put down.

It sounds like the shooter was hopped up on ambien or something?
I would like to see what his toxicology screen comes back as? |

Just for the sake of educating folks about the 18 series profession, here is how you get to be a 18F. You start out getting another 18 series MOS like 18B, 18C, and so on. It's only after you have been around a while and generally get to E-7 that you are sent off to the 18F course at Fort Bragg which is all intel stuff there isn't any weapons or demo shit involved, just secret squirrel stuff. In order to make it to E-8 you have to become 18F qualified. Then eventually you move up to 18Z50 which is your team OP SGT or company SGM MOS.
If he is an 18F that means he has been around a while on teams and likely deployed where ever the 7th is working these days. I started out as an 18B and several years later went to the O&I course. Of course the way they deal with it now may be different than when I was in. |

Quoted: I dont think I'm trying to get into a gunfight with a Green Beret View Quote You wouldn’t even know who you were dealing with if you got into a self defense shootout. You will either defend yourself, run, or get shot. The shooter is not going to be announcing his occupation. But I think you mean you would prefer not to get into a shootout with a green beret if you could choose not to. |

If he wanted to do some damage he had the means to do so on a large scale. I originally thought it was gang related before seeing the shooter. Rockford is super dangerous. Then I thought “ok, active green beret just trying to defend against a mugging or something “. But the age of victims throws that out the window along with some witness statements against him. It is a strange event. I despise active shooter or gun related attacks because politicians and media use it to fuel their fire against all of us law abiding gun owners any chance they get. |

Quoted: Sounds like you're giving him some sort of pass or points or I don't know what point you are making. View Quote I think he is trying to state the guy should have had his head on straight as a professional and would have never done something like start shooting up a public place. I highly doubt he is giving him a pass. There are a lot of shitbags in the army. We would never give all of them passes just because of their service. |
|
my WAG: he swiped some new age Pervatin/Benzedrine that is made available for secret squirrel types, thought he would have some fun and took too much or was his first high and flipped out.
also explains how some one that should know how to shoot somewhat proficiently only managed to kill half of what he shot. |

He definitely looks like he don't give a damn in the mugshot. He has a bruise on his neck.

View Quote yes it would because at this point its not surprising that someone from either of those groups would do that. whereas a green beret doing something like this is very rare. If any SF guy does this it seems like usually its a SEAL not a green beret (in my non-military out side looking in perspective) |
