First of all as a newbie I want to say hello to everyone; I did a few searches for “Airsoft” but couldn’t find any information. I want to know what you guys know about “Airsoft” products that I am finding online that look just like the real thing. I ordered a fold down front sight just for comparison, and I’ll be darned, it looks and feels just like my more expensive “real” sight. As a matter of fact I can’t find any differences with my naked eye. Are the differences in material, machining or assembly of the whole part? I’ve been told these “Airsoft” parts are “Cheap” overseas copies and won’t stand up to abuse over time. But I like I said; without doing some type of metallurgical test, that I don’t have the equipment for, how do you tell the difference? The “Airsoft” part even has all the markings of the “retail” part I have.
I know from experience that “Cheap” overseas performance automotive parts have been around for a few years, and indeed these parts have proven that they are not as durable or reliable as say a billet rocker arm from a known manufacturer. Is it the same case for “Airsoft”?
Pls excuse my naiveté about this subject.
Thanks to all who reply.

It's possible your "real" firearm (real steel in airsoft parlance) has airsoft parts installed.
Now, batten down your hatches for a shit storm as airsoft gets less love than commies here.
