Why? 30.06 is the original. Anything else is silly, or an affectation.

Quoted: The .270 is Breda BMR 68. ( .270=6.8mm, so serial number 68 makes sense) https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/234818/20230205_112505-2699337.jpg View Quote It seems closer to the originally intended caliber. Lighter recoil? Flat shooting? I would assume accuracy is just as good as -06 at the minimum. |

That 6.5x55 is the sweet spot for power and shootability. .22 Creedmoor next??
|
|
I saw someone had converted a Garand to 458 win mag.
I wish it was production, I NEED one of those in my life. |
|
The 6.5x55 Garand uses a 120 grain Hornady match bullet loaded with 39.5 grains of IMR-4895. The estimated muzzle velocity is 2750 fps.
The 6.5x55 Garand is extremely soft shooting. It feels like shooting a .223. The 6.5x55mm is probably the sweetest Garand to shoot. |

One day I may lose the ability to resist 6.5x55. That is just the sweet spot for a Garand

Quoted: I fucked around and missed getting one. This was one of those "i'll get one in a bit, gonna buy something else first, they're not going anywhere". That "in a bit" never came. . View Quote I got lucky as hell. Went to the CMP store on a whim, they put a .308 on the shelf while I was there. I only went for one but ended up with a serial number from WWII and the .308. If I am lucky, one of them was used by a brother from another mother on an island hopping campaign or in Europe. |
