Quoted: It aint broke, why fix. Its the fastest non-minigun 7.62mm GPMG on the battlefield, faster even than shooting an early MAG58 that was clean and well oiled with the biggest gas port selected. I would hate to try to control one off a bipod, but in a stable mount there really isnt anything better, even today, for vehicles and fixed positions. The MG-3 is actually pretty controllable from the hip or standing. You just grab the bipod (keeping both legs of the bipod together) and that allows you to hold it pretty easily. It’s not a heavy gun. Because you are gripping the bipod, and not just supporting the gun, there’s not a lot of recoil rise when you are shooting like that. That said, the tripod IS amazing, and absolutely perfect for fighting from fixed positions. |

Not that no one else posted anything in the entire thread. |

I can't comment about the OP in the other thread, I think I made up most of the first 8 pages of this one

The other thread has a bunch of people that just want to reap the work of other's posting, IMO. I do feel bad about what happened on pg 21 though. |

No kidding, I didn't think they existed outside of museums. I. Got. Serial. Number. ONE. (I think; they painted the serials on these guns, and "1" is the only number on this cat's receiver remnants) I about shat myself when it showed up on Gunbroker as a parts kit, and then shat myself for real when it had a Buy It Now. Most expensive kit I've ever purchased, but less than HK G36 kits go for nowadays. I kinda want to get an SOT just to build it 'right,' but then again a semi conversion on these is super easy, and I only have fifty of the special links & the one can (which would last about seven seconds on full auto). It's neat, the guts are almost identical to the standard LMG model, but every contact surface has a little piece of hardened steel perfectly inletted & brazed into place. |
