I think it's better than certain other popular isekai/alternate world shows, and I find it entertaining. No show is without its flaws - right now I think the current season is dragging a bit (they've spent how long in that village?) but I acknowledge there's a purpose. It's not unusual for shows to appear too calm, if not boring for 6-7 eps in a row, then all of a sudden that buildup blows you away and leaves you in suspense at the end of the episode. If I had to pick my favorites in that genre, it'd be Hai to Gensou no Grimgar and Shinchou Yuusha (preferred when it got serious, vs the humor parts of it). A lot of top shows on MAL are overrated. It's a popularity metric and nothing more, nothing less. Some of those pompous reviewers who think they are smarter than they actually are need to get punched through the internet though. |
