I know there is no perfect operating system, nor perfect hardware. To be honest, Apple has gotten really good in the past 5 years. But if you were the big guy at Apple, what would you have them tackle?
I have two complaints 1. Why can’t Apple figure out what random is? I have a playlist in Apple Music that is roughly 9 hours in length. I love to put it on random and go do stuff. The only problem, I swear it plays the same 15 songs. So: of the songs on that playlist have never played, and statistically speaking that’s impossible if it was truly random. 2. When wireless charging my iPhone and Apple Watch on my Belkin stand, which charges both in “nightstand mode”. Correctly the iPhone will turn red in low light, in order to seem less brighter. The watch, which also has a photo sensor to dim, or make red the display doesn’t change. It stays that jarring (in the dark) green color. Not only does it look tacky, it hurts my eyes. This should be a super simple fix, I would assume. So what do you have? |

The absolute destruction of “focus”. That fucking system is a nightmare to unwind from your life. I was missing meetings, calls and texts because it decided to designate all day every day as quiet time. No simple way to stop it or control it and all the devices have their own hooks into it so you have to run around disabling it everywhere.
They have a number of systems like this. Another is my iPhone deciding to become my microphone for my laptop install of my headset mic. A feature I have no interest in at all. To stop that happening I have disable the linked camera that I do use often to scan documents into the computer. But I have to do without that because the microphone is fucking things up and nobody can figure out the why. |
|
I'd allow 3rd party software. The user bought the phone. Let them do whatever they want with it.
If they pay $1500 for an iphone, allow them to install android, ubuntu, or any other operating system on it. If its a warranty thing, just allow them to unlock the bootloader and blow the warranty fuse when they do. |

View Quote My wife has gotten focus activated on her phone [15PM] and it's driving her nuts. No matter what she does it keeps randomly activating and she's missing calls. Is it the entire ecosystem that's reactivating it? She has a Mac Pro, IPad Pro, Macbook Pro and the iPhone 15PM, so anything seems possible. |

The only thing I use is Do Not Disturb and set it for a specific time-frame (9:00pm - 4:00am on nights where I have to work the next day). I also have it set to allow calls/texts from certain people in my contacts during that time (family and close friends in case there's an emergency). I have no issues with it and never have to mess with it.
I guess if you need no distractions for a period, just put it on silent and don't even think about it. |

Fix the damn mouse so the charger plugs in anywhere BUT underneath.

Thats why ios jailbreaks sell for $5M+. |

A touch screen MacBook Air that folds the other way like the Lenovo yoga, would be killer.

I would like a built-in MagSafe charger on the MacBook, beside the trackpad.

when Bluetooth is on, and no devices are connected, imessage notify is disabled. only imessage.

Allow device for access directly and permit MP3s to be played like a normal pc or Android phone.

Removable battery. Physical switch to physically disable microphone, another to physically disable cameras.
this would be a good start. |

Nothing really, mostly it is just minor annoying things.
I always find new things about my phone, I just the other day found out in camera that if you hold the button it will start shooting video. I told everyone and nobody I know knew that function existed either. If you swipe up, it will supposedly zoom too. I wasn’t a fan of the UW1 software/firmware. But, I may have to get a AW/UW2 since there is now a shot timer you can control and read from an AW/UW. I would have a $1100 shot timer lol. |

View Quote The "physical" switch you are looking for is internal. There is no way for the component to be activated remotely and when it is, there is on screen notifications of such. a removable battery is a possibility if you're willing to give up water and dust resistance |

Well since @right_rudder is here, maybe this won’t be shouting into the void
If I’m on my iPad (11” Pro 2nd gen) and I load up a video from a website, then I screen mirror to my Apple TV 4K, the video shows up on the screen in (what I assume is) the same resolution/aspect ratio as my iPad screen. I get black bars on the sides of the image on the TV and the video stays playing on the iPad and TV. It also tends to look more pixelated, like it’s a lower bitrate stream. If I go to the same website on my iPhone (15 Pro) and screen mirror to the Apple TV 4K, it displays in what appears to be the correct resolution/aspect ration for my TV, and is much clearer. The iPhone also doesn’t continue to play the video, it goes to a black screen with some text on it (I forget what it says) and I can lock the screen and set the phone down and it will keep playing the video on my TV. Do I just need a newer iPad or is this one of those differences between iOS and iPadOS? |

I'd make them open source all of their operating systems and software, including repair software like that application you use to calabrate a laptop screen close sensor when you fix or replace one. It sucks balls that apple software is closed source, unlike android and Linux, which I actually use.
Open Source for the win Baybay. |

Yeah I can see them getting pissy. FWIW I abandoned relying on Parallels. There was an update and now anytime I am using it, no matter what I do or what settings I change the system lags. Badly. The forums are littered with people complaining about the same thing. It was working gangbusters for a while there, so much so that I relied on it for any Windows/Client-related dev stuff solely. I now RDP into a Windows laptop I keep for just such reasons and it's worlds easier. Not sure where Parallels went bad, but it did, and in a big way. Shame, really. /rant |

Hardware QA and planned obsolescence which kind of are the same thing with Apple because they have engineered the craptops to die sooner from battery failure. They used to last for 6 years easily.

Earlier today I got time outs like it couldn’t access the server, and it was also not finding a contact I’ve navigated to many times. Solid wi-fi and 5gUW options at the time. Not the first time it’s happened either. |

OH and the Podcasts app decides regularly to not find the podcast I’ve been listening to and serve me up some random thing from my list.
None of my issues are show-stoppers, just annoying. |

Everywhere in the OS where you can click a link, I would have the default browser open instead of only most of the time.
In the Mail app, I would have mouse scroll speed abide by the system setting. Both of these have been around for years and yes I've reported them both but they continue to be ignored. |

They finally fixed my biggest peeve, the inability to assign contact to a "List" while on a mobile device, several years ago now.
Everything else compared to that is small potatoes. As I said in many other threads, I still wish the phones were as small as the old minis, though, even smaller.. or at least shorter. I think the phablet trend can be adequately addressed by making phones wider relative to their length. Not sure why the phone aspect ratio is what it is. |
