40k fan checking in! I don't collect or play the table top games. But I do read the novels and play the PC games. Currently, playing Space Hulk: Deathwing which is fun and the maps/details are just awesome. The gameplay is meh running solo but playing co-op is fun. I do love the lore of the universe since it seems to be never ending. Space Wolves and Titans FTW! View Quote The Space Wolves got fucked up by Magnus in the latest edition, though.

I'm looking to achieve a blued steel finish, like an old revolver, on a couple of the models I'm painting now. there are a few books which are collections of short stories, most of them older now. They can be quick reads. Stories of the Space Marines I think is one. can't recall the others. Last Chancers and 15 hours also decent for how the Guard works, there are some mainly focusing on the Imperial Navy, and Arbites which is like their version of cops. A few Eldar and Tau books out there to.
The one thing about the game is while 8th is current, and what many in stores play, I see many in 40k groups playing older versions too. Also nothing wrong with collecting the minis, I have played 2 games since rogue trader started collecting. I have orks, space marines, imperial guard, with some tau. A handful of other figures or vehicles I though were cool, or got in a bits bundle. while you can still make awesome armies just putting them together and painting them like they come. The shear amount of bits out there makes conversions never ending. I also seen someone that was so good with plasticard if his work was unpainted was about the only way you could tell it was plasticard. He measured everything exact, or damn close. For the guy wanting blued guns, a dark grey (like dark dark grey) with a few layers of black ink wash should get you really close, plus it’ll have highlights done for you.

LEGION I Dark Angels Primarch: Lion El' Jonson Homeworld: Caliban (destroyed) They are known for being extremely secretive, and spend a lot of time secretly infighting with former members of their legion. They are jokingly referred to as "secret traitors" due to this. Their Primarch has been asleep deep within their base for nine thousand years, and none of them know it. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/58051/debea43fe42fb1a84ba5fd444c4ccd1a--battlefleet-gothic-armada-space-wolves-333609.JPG ------------ LEGION V White Scars Primarch: Jaghatai Khan Homeworld: Chogoris The White Scars use bikes, landspeeders, and anything else that helps them move fast. They are extremely loyal to the Imperium and are masters of jump pack assault. They occasionally have been known to drink the blood of their enemies. Their Chapter Master, Dante, is considered to be the oldest living Space Marine. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/58051/tumblr_ngd0c9F5R61tvfheeo3_1280-333629.JPG ---------- LEGION X Iron Hands Primarch: Ferrus Manus Homeworld: Medusa The Iron hands "improve" on their already superhuman physiques by replacing as many of their organic parts with mechanical parts as they can. Their strength is their ability to rapidly learn and adapt. They are good at everything, but not the best at any one thing. Their Primarch was wounded and kept in stasis for 9k years, now he is revived and is Lord Commander of the Imperium. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/58051/Space-Marine-Captain-333641.JPG -------- LEGION XVIII Salamanders Primarch: Vulkan Homeworld: Nocturne The Salamanders are loved by Imperial citizens because moreso than any other legion they believe in protecting the common person at all costs. They are specialists in flame weaponry. Their homeworld is a radioactive hellhole and they all have onyx-black skin as a result of this. Vulkan himself is a "perpetual," which means he is completely immortal. If he dies, he eventually comes back. He is currently dead or missing, he told his Legion he would come back after they complete an elaborate scavenger hunt that he set up. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/78/ca/8c/78ca8c03279690fc32ce89b1ff068caa--warhammer--warhammer-k-salamanders.jpg ---------- LEGION XIX Raven Guard Primarch: Corvus Corax Homeworld: Deliverance The Raven Guard are masters of stealth and jump packs. They have a preference for the older "beak" style power armor helmets. Their Primarch was a master of guerilla warfare and was said to have been virtually invisible when he wanted to be. He accidentally made some abominations while attempting to improve on the Space Marines. He was last seen 9k years ago headed for the Eye of Terror. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/a4/69/fc/a469fc9394c7e96ac05295b31dd7a488--warhammer-k-legion.jpg View Quote Thanks |

View Quote Luther and Astelan were Loyalists who wouldn't betray the Emperor, Jonson was a insane feral who was waiting to see who won the Heresy, he dragged ass and slowed down Russ from getting to Terra until the contest was over, at which point, all he had to do was kill all witnesses (within his Legion) to his secret treachery. This quest was carried on to the present day, and explains why the DA's are so obsessed with killing all the "Fallen" and why Cypher is headed to Terra. It also jives with the older canon were Terran Marines are Loyalists and the "New Recruits" are more likely to be Traitors (having never served with just the Emperor or on Terra). New Canon sucks where the Terran Marines in Loyalist Legions are Traitors (White Scars, Dark Angels, Raven Guard) and Terran Marines in Traitor Legions are Loyalist. Also speaking of the Raven Guard, Ashen Claws did nothing wrong either. |

By Dark Imperium, his new crusade is winding down and he’s been revived for about a hundred years. I suspect, based on what Yvraine told him in Rise of the Primarch, that the armor was necessary for him to remain alive for a while, but eventually his overall health improved to the point he no longer had to wear it at all times. Or maybe the big E psy-purged the rest of Fulgrim’s poison when they had their little chat. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

He has an interesting and unconventional perspective as a character in 40k, I enjoy reading about him. In my 'headcanon' Yvraine brings Guilliman back, but he is naturally very very weak, the armor "amps him up" to full power right away until he has time to naturally recover. Pretty much the same thing. ETA: I also liked how Guilliman wakes up after 9,000 years in stasis, sees the room is full of Chaos Marines, and immediately starts ripping them apart before he really has any idea at all of what is going on or even what day/year it is. Once Cawl's Magic Microwave opens and Guilliman pops out, it's asskicking time until there's no more ass to kick. He waits until later to even begin to piece together what had happened to himself, much less the Imperium at large. I also like that he instituted the Logos Historica Verita to record an accurate history of the time since the Great Crusade, without superstition or censorship. He remarks that the High Lords could be off by as much as a thousand years in the calendar just due to bad recordkeeping and censorship. |

This is my dream. If Bethesda was allowed to develop a 40k game in the vein of Elder Scrolls it would truly do the universe justice. Set it in a system of planets so you could travel between them at some point mid-late game. They could release sequels and DLCs set in different systems to really make a franchise out of it. Make the first one so you can at least play as all the Imperial or Chaos factions and release the Xenos in the second game when they have enough money to justify it. View Quote |

Fantastic read. I have it on ebook and regular bound omnibus formats. That, and Ravenor have been paged through way too many times. Serious spoiler in the box as a heads up. Click To View Spoiler Just goes to show how a hardcore Inquisitor can end up bending and bending to save people, only to end up being what most would consider a traitor and radical. Hell of a good read though.
Figure he starts out as a Puritan/Amalathian and ends up more of a Xanthism radical, that despite being called and tried as a traitor twice, still ends up being right. But the line into 'oh shit' keeps slipping closer and closer. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

in the last parts of the eisenhorn trilogy he is clearly tending to the radical. Although his and ravenor's showdown has yet to be written, we know that there must be a final confrontation. The final inquisitor trilogy, the bequin trilogy, follows a clone of alizebeth bequin as she encounters eisenhorn and ravenor's retinues. Only the first book has been released and it has been quite a hiatus. I didn't think it was as good as either of the other trilogy's beginnings though. As of the current canon both eisenhorn and ravenor are long dead, being their stories took place before the tyranids even appeared.
