I think that's an overlooked aspect for most.
We live in the Golden age of combat handguns. It's hard to go wrong when buying something from a major brand right now. But major military and LE adoption guarantees support; parts, holster selection, mags, and ongoing factory production and support.
That's why I've somewhat consolidated around Glocks and P320s. Both will have several more decades of ongoing momentum.
