I’ve had mine for a week and have used it for almost all solo media consumption. I haven’t really delved into virtual games or anything like that.
But… having the thing and being able to immerse yourself outside of a metal tube is… something else. I’m not claustrophobic, but I could see this being a real game changer for someone who is. Video showing a couple tidbits that absolutely IN NO WAY does it justice. One note: the Vision uses foviated rendering. Meaning only the bit that your eyes are focused on is in the highest resolution. If it seems blurry, that’s because that portion of the image is not what my eyes are looking at. You’ll note portions becoming highlighted. I could turn on a “pointer” that would so, but it’s super distracting. So I leave it off A very quick video of what the Apple Vision Pro is like aboard an airplane. @right_rudder I am freaking SOLD on this thing. I’ll be using it to actually work using my MB on an airplane, where I can finally carry a smaller laptop in preference of the large “screen” the Vision Pro provides. One note: I sincerely hope replacement speakers are being considered that use airpod max style over the ear. I know my max’s will connect over Bluetooth but they don’t fit well over the side. In-ear style AirPods don’t work well for me and I’m sure others feel the same. |

Quoted: I really look forward to when the price point halves. View Quote I doubt the Vision Pro will ever decrease much. You’re basically wearing a super miniaturized MBP on your face, with the addition of a custom processor for the video immersion stuff, which is a marvel of speedy video processing. Some speculation there may eventually be a non pro version. But that’s pure speculation in every sense of the word. |

Sweet demo OP, I wish I flew more and “needed” one.
But I will just have to settle for an iPad and noise canceling headphones |

When VR/AR headsets are cheap and ubiquitous, we're going to miss the days when people were mildly distracted with their phones...

Have you tried shooting a 3D video with it with the onboard cameras? What's the playback like, is it fully immersive?

Imagine how awesome it will be when you can spend all day staring at pr0n while at work and nobody is looking over your shoulder.
Jeez ... just go outside. Boomers checking in |

This is what we are becoming. It’s sad and terrifying. We were so obsessed with whether or not we could, we never paused to ask whether or not we should. |

Thanks man.
Several years of hard work by very talented people. BTW, you the newest generation of AirPods Pro for best audio experience. |

Quoted: I think the things it does are cool as fuck... but not $3500 cool. I'd rather have something that plugs into my MacBook as a companion or I/O device. The spatial awareness is pretty damn amazing. View Quote |

At $500 I’d probably be in. I’m a Mac guy (yeah, see username) but not with unlimited fundage.

Samsung will reverse-engineer this quickly, and within 2 years we'll have good competition in this market.

View Quote Well… I’ll prob end up with a new set of AirPod pro someday. But I can only wear them for about an hour before my ears hurt. I’ve tried all the different tips and it just doesn’t happen. I very much prefer my AirPod max over the ear set. I’m sure some of this stuff is in the works but: A way to unlock an iPhone whilst wearing the thing. Some better way to type. I know Siri is the thing but… More than one remote MB display. I surmise this is limited to one due to whatever wireless protocol / bandwidth. “Locked” mode. Where the windows thrown up move with the headset instead of being placed at a specific spot in 3D space. A way to model a space using the iPhone 3D scanning and then create it virtually so that windows can be placed in specific spots. The disappear when you leave the room, and reappear when you re-enter. Related to the above, “Spaces” so that a specific arrangement of apps / windows can be saved and recalled. Honestly there is sooo much potential for the “merging” of the physical world with the 3D space it’s kind of mind blowing. |

View Quote Samsung already had a full featured VR headset and have mostly abandoned the market. With Windows pulling support for it within a month or two the product is going to be mostly dead. Maybe they'll restart their product line if Apple starts getting good adoption rates but for now it seems like they were more than happy to let Facebook reign. |

I'd love one day to have a heads up display to help me in my productive stages of the day.
I hate to think of all sorts of new data sources this secures. Same reason I wont wear a smart watch. I dont want these devices attached to me where I am unlikely to take them off for a significant portion of my day. I'll wait till we can get a digital bill of rights securing the users ownership rights over their personal data. If that doesnt happen I'm good with where I'm at right now. |

From everything I’ve seen of it so far, it looks cool as hell.
That said, I’m also not seeing a use case that makes a ton of sense. Like you said OP, solo media consumption, but that’s a tough sell at $3500 plus. And despite the latency apparently being quite good, use cases like driving or other on the go activities where AR could be super useful probably won’t be practical until future generations. So far every public use case I’ve seen I’d rather just use my phone or laptop. And I’m a tech nerd… |
