I remember seeing a cable TV program about Duggar family about 10 years ago. They had a bunch of kids and lived a very religious conservative life. All the family members seemed normal on the show and all the kids looked to be happy with their life. Couple weeks ago my wife was telling me that all the different TV shows and news were saying how weird and messed up all the Duggar kids were. How they were brain washed by their parents and how the oldest child was not allowed to marry because she had to stay home to help her parent raise their little kids. It all seemed strange to me because kids I saw on that TV show years ago all seemed normal. Last week I watch another one of Duggar family show with all the kids grown up now and getting married and all the kids still looked normal in Christian conservative way.
Is the MSM making Duggar family out to be weird/evil family because they can't stand a normal happy family with kids that are respectable and obedient OR are Duggars a weird evil family? |

I havent really watched the show but why is a large white family weird?
Were the Walton's weird? |

I don't know how oddly they may have turned out, but I find I am uncomfortable around most of the "Quiverfull" types.

Oh my GOD YES they are weird. The dating practices they subject their daughters to are practically islamic. The homeschooling organization they are involved with, Advanced Training Institute, is super culty and molesty too.

One of the sons molested multiple of his sisters. I'd say that counts as fucked up.

Most of the devout Christians I know are a bit weird creepy and Stepford-like

My wife watches that show. I've tried to watch it a few times but I just can't stand them.
The girls are extremely hot though. |

Having met at least 7 of them on various occasions, i'd go with "somewhere inbetween." You do have to counterbalance your initial impression and subsequent meetings with them with understanding their belief system and its insular structure vs your own more worldly ways.
So in essence, yes and no, depending on the size of the grain of salt you can get your hands on. |

Yeap. I trust semi-degenerate types more than the devout bible thumpers. Semi-degenerates don't have the bible and baby Jesus to shield them. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Junior is a deviant. Not semi-deviant. Deviant. And that behavior is often learned. Barring the perv brother, they seem like nice/caring people to me. I do get how someone who's a dick would think they're weird though. Weird is subjective.

Any family that is featured on a reality tv show is not "normal."

Its not my flavor, but who am I to tell a man how to raise his family as long as they are all fed and well kept? The creepy pedobear incest stuff with the oldest brother not withstanding... |

I have known many of those types and I was very similar myself growing up.
Yes, they are weird and messed up. |

Children need mentorship, and that is especially true when their responsibilities include diapers and bathtime of younger siblings. Add in a healthy dose of religious fundamentalism and restricted social interaction, I'm not surprised their oldest son became a sister-toucher. |

GD white knighted for the brother when he was caught diddling his sisters. You have to be some kind of crazy to be as backwards as they are.

All I know is I use their laundry detergent recipe. So, thanks Duggars.

Weird as fuck, perverts too.
There was one hot daughter there somewhere though. |
