It seems the trend moves to smooth except where you need it.
Resale value is probably low? |
I only had one on a rifle, and I replaced it as soon as I could.
I think you can grate cheese with the damn thing. I can't even give it away, nobody wants them. |
Buy what you want. No need for the hive to tell you what to like.
I have guns with quads, dickmod, M-lok, and regular old plastic handguards. They all seem to get the job done. |
I’m not replacing the quad rails I have, but I haven’t made a non-clone rifle in anything but MLOK for years now.
Mine aren't going anywhere but I dont plan on buying more either.

Damnit! I got the AR of my dreams done a few years ago with a quad rail. It's on a Seekins upper that it bolted to and is now about as firmly attached as a rail can be.
It's also heavy as hell and has nothing on it other than a magpul strap mount. I need to accessorize! |

I prefer quad rails. All but one of my uppers feature the cheese grater, and the odd MLOK will be replaced with a quad ASAP.

I have a few with them. Plus a keymod. Just curious One I only put like three rounds through It doesn't have any sights or a scope. Couple others I bought One is my AR-10 with the LaRue 13-in rail |

On the contrary, I feel they are delightfully "gangster" in appearance.
In fact, I am looking to purchase one to go on a mid-length barrel with an A2 front sight base. I believe it must be 9 inches in length. |

I have two guns with POF rails.
I want to build a 16-in with rifle handguards a2 style |
They are my favorite. DD RIS, DD Omega, Spikes SAR. I love Quad rails.
That MI T series is on point too. |

More Quads,,DD 15",,Magpul XTM,,easy on off of accessories,,lights, bipod PEQ Attached File

I'm thinking about building another ar with quadrails just cause I like the look with fde ladder rail covers
It's an evolution, just like any other.
No rails, to awkward rail mounting solutions, to *OMG, they put rails EVERYWHERE!*, then to "do we really need to rip out hands up on a 9lb handguard for one flashlight?", to modular rail mounting solutions. Think of mlok and keymod as quadrails that already have the rail covers installed. I wouldn't replace one I already had, but I wouldn't buy one for a new build. |
I'd say no because I still like them and aren't that concerned with weight. As far as resale value, I wouldn't count on getting my money back unless it's something the cloners want.
I have zero reasons to replace my KAC RAS II. Attached File |

I wish the DD profile took off.
Having the sides slimmer than the top and bottom makes too much sense. |
Quad rails are awesome and make the most sense for putting unneeded crap on a rifle for poseur mods ....but still a lotta GD pussies will claim its to rough or heavy on there feminine hands
They are going the way of the doh doh.
I think they were a great innovation and really advanced the modularity of the AR and other weapons, but things move on and they are done. |

Only have one left, a YHM diamond.
I want to machine the side rails off of it and use for an SD style AR9. |
Quad rail was always a poor solution. I never owned one. They worked until someone came up with a genuinely good idea.
If m-lok / key mod were first, quad rails would be the best thing ever right now.
My goto still has my original KAC I bought in 04 I like it I have tried MLOK & hated it key mod is fugly
