Have you ever been there?
|
|
Fuck yeah and getting through it took a lot of goddamn quarters.
|
|
No.
As much as I distrust some parts of our Federal Government, I believe the people dedicated to destroying our enemies mean well for this country, and they should be allowed to proceed with their operations without interference from idiot reporters or the Great Unwashed. |

My father served in the Air Force with a guy who spent a lot of time out there during the days leading up to the F-117, he once to me there’s some really cool stuff out there.
Never elaborated any. |

No. And if someone says they have they are lying or have a serious desire to be in a place where Bubba reigns supreme.

You can't do an Area51 thread without mentioning Bob Lazar on Joe Rogan

You should go talk to the line guys at Signature in KLAS... No idea what you are referring to. I worked a program that had people out there. I had no knowledge or access other than the people that would shrug when asked about things. |

I have not.
I used to know a guy who flew B-47s in that area. |

I’ve been as far up the road as you can go before getting molested by camo dudes. Took a picture of the sign they say you can’t take a picture of and left.

Groom Lake is beautiful this time of year. Check out the reviews on google

Talked to a guy while we were staying at the Little"A'le Inn last summer who told me he has however he added there wasn't much to see, some hangers an admin building. If there really is anything there it's completly out of sight to an satellites or public view. Didn't know whether to believe him or not, seemed honest enough.

I've flown over the edge of it a few times.
On of my instructors was IFR and flew straight through their airspace (I guess sometimes that actually happens, it's restricted, not prohibited) and he said his transponder light never blinked, it was was just permanently on until he was well clear. |

I knew somebody that works there.
Not everyone there knows about the top secret shit that goes on. |

Quoted: Have you ever been there? View Quote Negative. I did spend some time in R-4807 testing GPS for USAF Space Command. eta: A bit of trivia. Mark Farmer (Agent-X, for those of you familiar with his contributions to Art Bell's Dreamland), freelance journalist, photographer, and Area-51 expert, worked at the LGS in Juneau, Alaska after medical retirement from the USCG. |

No, but I knew someone who was in the Air Force and happened to be in Roswell on that day.

I know of at least two members here who were base guards back in the day.
My grandfather worked there in the early 60’s. My little brothers best friend growing up is currently a firefighter at the base. I asked him once if he ever gets to put out fires on cool test aircraft that crash. He just laughed and tells me to shut up and stop asking. |

All the good shit is at Wright Pat or Dugway now. So I'm told.

I've been to area 60/61/62. The Desert Warfare school at Indian Springs. It's right over the mountains from the 50 series.

I first went to Area 51 summer of 1986. Back then, you could drive all the way up the hill to the guard gate. The guard and I talked for about a half hour or so; he showed me the new boundaries that the Air Force was getting ready to take over. Sure enough, USAF shut down Freedom Ridge. Now they stop you at the foothills off the 11 mile straight as an arrow road.
In 2002 my son and I climbed Tickaboo Peak and sat and watched the base for about an hour or so. It was mostly like watching paint dry, nothing going on. |

When did Area 51 become widely known?
According to my mother and grandmother, they remember my grandfather sometime in the mid 1970s casually saying how he used to work at Groom Lake. He did work for Lockheed in LA in the 50s and 60s, but I don't know if he took any trips out to Vegas. Mom told me that in the late 1990s and I'm like, "Groom Lake is Area 51 and Bob Lazar stuff!" I have no idea on the veracity of it. IDK why Lockheed would need a heliarc welder (TIG nowadays) at Area 51. Then again, I can't see him BSing with my grandmother about something she'd have no idea about. |
|
no choice in the poll for having watched a tv show about area 51
|

My grandfather built the runway extension there back in the 80's (Matich Corp). He said any time the Air Force needed to move something they had to shut down operations and corrall the workers into a hanger till it was accomplished.
