Yep, I lived there for 20 years. I didn't vote enough in the local elections, so I guess I was part of the problem; but when I did I voted against the idiots who supposedly represented me in the local government there. Glad I got out when I did, it's on the express-commuter-train-light rail route to becoming Baltimore. Living in the big Texas cities has become a nightmare; I wouldn't live anyplace there with a population over 250k.

It’s gotten worse even from a few years ago it seems like. I just can’t get over how dirty everything is. It’s like people just suddenly stoped cleaning. |

Classmate was from Austin. He told us it's a liberal sh*thole.

They usually clean up for SXSW.
Kerbey Lane miga's with con queso may be the only redeeming feature left. Live music is dead. |

Get in/ Get out, watch your six. On the Drag, there is a good military surplus store - The Quonset Hut. No guns or ammo.

That’s what generations of dirty hippies will do to a place….

View Quote Thankfully Austin Shitty Limits was in town when we were there for MotoGP, so we stayed out in the Cedar Park area. That was decent. |

I thought it was quite a pleasant city. Of course I was there about 7 years ago.

Never been to Austin. I'm sure it can't be worse than Portland.

Austin's not good, but it's not Portland or San Francisco. Yet.
Get away from downtown and the major highways, and out to the WEST, it's not so bad. |

Once you wander outside of Austin things are well-kept & it smells like Texas again.

Hey I live in Austin………..which is why I am leaving
Sold home adios in three weeks for the country. Love driving to work from my new place. Biden sucks flags about every other gate and let’s go Brandon in between with neighbors who wave with a smile as you go by. |

View Quote I remember one of our local AM stations in Birmingham, AL carrying a syndicated "progressive" radio show out of Austin. "Hightower's Chat-N-Chew" I think. That was 30 years ago. That shit was like listening to Radio DU, if there was such a thing. . The chant, even back then, was "Keep Austin Weird". What you saw, OP, was three decades of weird piling up. |

View Quote They turned the nice lawn at my grandparents home off of twin oaks drive into a zeroscape typical lib hippie look. Hell the house might have fallen apart by now, built back in the 40s. I remember the street being so narrow because the trees have grown into the street. |

Quoted: I went to Mcbride's. Yeah, it was tiny, hardly any ammo. The staff sort of cold-eyed me. I wasn't looking at the quail guns. View Quote They always had cool old stuff you don’t see anymore or can’t find. I bought a garand for $700 that was back in 2009. Parking sucks! That intersection is dangerous too. |

A few boxes of C&R era ammo. No 54r or 8mm. Deer and Quail guns. Some pistols, but GT had better prices. I was disappointed. |

I was in Austin about 3 years ago. I stayed on the west side, where the tech industries are. It's been rumored that Austin is the next Silicon Valley. That might explain the nasty vermin that litters the streets.

From 1999 to 2010, Austin was a very nice place. It really started going downhill around 2012-2013. It has been a SHIT HOLE since 2018.
I can't wait to leave! |

Cant believe how different it is in Austin every time I have to drive in. Really sad. |
