The cartel has been in the avocado business for a good few years now. I don't see either the Mexican or the US governments backing up some inspector on something like this. If I were him I'd be on the next large-body jet leaving on a trip to it's max advisable range.

Quoted: Oh yeah forgot about the syrup heists! View Quote I think the bigger issue is a quasi-government organization that forces farmers to use controlled delivery channels at fixed rates via threats, intimidation, abuse of civil courts, and violence at times. Those syrup heists have been happening for a long time. Maybe some were organized by the syrup cartel, possibly as a punitive measure against its own "members", but I'll bet most are just straight up robberies by regular old criminals. |

The price of a 20-pound box of avocados from the state was $26.23 as of Feb. 3, or about $6.29 more than it was on the same day the previous year.
That is a price increase of 24% As a reseller of food, the my costs to purchase the following items are listed below. Food grade oats (oatmeal) has risen 66% from January of 2021 to January of 2022 Food grade wheat (flour) has risen 56% from January of 2021 for January of 2022 Food grade vegetable oil (canola) has risen 74% from January of 2021 to January of 2022 The Mexican Cartels seem to be failing in comparison. Perhaps they should pay Joe & Hunter for advice. |

Still under a buck each here in Socal but I'm in the avocado and citrus belt

Quoted: Fun fact. All avocados are conflict fruit. The cartels have that entire industry on lockdown. And yes that extends to US growers in California. One of the most fucking corrupt industries in the world. Olive oil is similarly controlled by organized crime in Europe. View Quote Yep, watched a documentary about this last a year or two ago. Corrupt and as violent as you see the cartels act towards their drug interests. |

Quoted: Meanwhile the Xiden Regime is the de facto northern partner of the Cartels in their human smuggling chain, enriching the cartels while further destabilizing the Mexican Government. Over 2,500,000 illegal aliens allowed to just walk right in the past year, and those are just the ones we know about. But one "inspector" gets threatened so they halt imports of a vegetable. 12 more police officers were shot and wounded over this holiest of holies holiday weekends. I eat an Avacado a day for breakfast., just ate it moments before reading this.
I love them and would eat more but thats just too much fat. But dang. |

Quoted: How’s that working out? I’ve been curious since you got them. View Quote It took a year to get my trespassing neighbor off my property- and 50k in legal fees and expert witnesses. They lied about everything. In the end their POS attorney quit on them. I actually dont like eating avocados. They are nice trees to look at though- they stay green and leafy year round. I give them away in 5 gallon home depot homer buckets. But avocado wood smells fantastic as firewood. |

Most of the avocado farms down there are owned by the cartels, all that American money going down there just fuels them. I think the admin wants to stop that and used the threat against the inspector as an excuse to do it. Think about it, the Administration that left a bunch of Americans in Afghanistan and got a bunch of Marines killed because of their incompetence, and said they wouldn't help Americans if they got stranded in Ukraine if Russia invaded, suddenly care about one dude who got a threatening message on his phone? |
