The story was already 50yrs old when it was dramatized into to something you could watch.
It will always be a good series to watch. |

Haven't seen it. GTFO and hand in your Man Card on the way out the door... you'll get it back after you get back from picking BoB up at the store to watch tonight. Can I retain my man card because I actually served in the 1-501st PIR, one of the units part of that whole mess? |

Never gets old, and the garand comes out of the safe to watch it with me every time I rewatch it yearly, or biannualy

It is something you will want to watch at least once per year. |

I think Netflix might have had it as well at one point, not sure if they've got it currently. I would agree with what was posted above though, get the DVD/Blu-ray version. It is one of those rarities that's worth it. I believe the Blu-ray is available at Walmart for about $50. |

Havent seen it in years but been home with a concussion & watched

The reason it is so good is it follows the book pretty closely and Winters kept meticulous records of every thing and everybody. Winters and his records were a treasure trove for Stephen Ambrose, my favorite author. The story is true, and the people are real people. Best war movie ever.

View Quote It is also so popular because it is one of those real stories that is perfect to be retold via TV. I mean, these guys were together from Airborne school until the end of the war. |

Here's a long but excellent writeup discussing the historical accuracy of the series. Well worth the read.

I have two friends that have never seen it. I recommended it to both a couple of months ago. One still has not seen it. The other started watching it and pretty much ignored his job and sleep for a few days and totally binge watched it. It's that good.

Wish they'd make a few more series in the same manner for Korea and Vietnam.
