I read an article today about how the first negative review of the movie is racist and bullshit.

Sure it did.
Actually, I have no doubt every critic who has seen it gave it a 100% rating. But I highly doubt 100% of those ratings reflect what the critic actually feels about the movie. |

Granted Spawn is more like an anti-hero, but still. Giving "Black Panther" the credit for being first on-screen black hero lead role is a lie. Shit, you could probably say Shaft was the first black people's big-screen hero. View Quote |

I saw the other day where some social justice groups are buying out all the showings at some theaters. This will definitely inflate the opening numbers

Did anyone watch the previews? It looks so shitty. Like Green Lantern level of shitty CGI.
Did they get the recent Fast and Furious people to do the CGI? |
|
I wouldn't get up out of the electric chair to take a seat in any theater where that film is being played.

It could be a decent movie, but no way in hell a comic book movie is 100 or 99. Clearly reviewers are afraid to give it the score it deserves because of possible backlash, see the one guy they gave it less than 100. The fact RT IS deleting reviews means it's a crap movie and they are trying to protect it. Remember liberals think blacks are children which must be protected and it all makes sense. Is it possible, and I know this is crazy but hear me out, is it possible that it's actually a good movie? I know, crazy right? The reality is that any good movie is usually also a superhero movie. Someone that triumphs against unusual odds. Even T2 was sort of superhero movie. The Machine kicked some ass to be sure but also transcended his machine-ness. So in Spiderman he had to learn how to deal with the superpowers but he was still a shy kid. In Ironman Tony Stark's suit was almost a side effect of inventing a better way to keep his own weapon out of his heart. In watchmen they were all seriously flawed people. The hero usually has a weakness too. |

Quoted: It would have to be a REALLY good superhero movie and the odds are against it with so many out these days. The first Spiderman was terrific. So was the first Ironman. Watchmen was terrific. Most of latest crop has been pretty Meh. As some other poster noted it's "Cape Fatigue". Especially when they start cramming tons of superheroes and tons of villains into every movie with too many story arcs. The reality is that any good movie is usually also a superhero movie. How perfect it came out just in time for black history month.
If a movie has to rely on the race of the main character to prop it up then it is effectively ramming it (AA) down the general populations throats, who can not read between the lines and will happily part with their $14 for a ticket and be frisked upon entering the germ infested theater. |

its either gonna suck major dick or its gonna be as good as the first captain america which i really enjoyed. its hard to say with what we've seen marvel hasn't dissapointed me all that much except for ultron which sucked dick.
im just really skeptical of any rotten tomato rating lately, they used to be a decent gauge of a show or movie. but its pretty apparent lately they are bought and sold at this point the critics are pretty much reliably 180 degrees out of sink with what the audience thinks. cases in point. star wars. bright. altered carbon. like bright got shit on bigtime but had 90%+ audience, same with altered carbon. star wars was lauded and everyone hated it. they are fake news. |

I dont know about you guys, but I feel special that I have one or two folks white knighting for me whenever race comes up in GD.
I certainly dont think that its actually the white knighters that are the actual racist shitbags that think I cant manage "perceived" racism on my own, and that I need their protection. I mean foreal, us colored folks are too dumb to deal with all this "racism" on our own. Godamn I needed the protection of calling GD posters racists, to shield me from any possible negative reviews of a fucking also ran superhero movie. Thanks GD whiteknights! I totally dont think that you are the actual racists. Just a message from your local neighborhood quadroon (not your local neighborhood spiderman). |

Just saw a review that said that the movie has a different feel than other Marvel movies in that there's not that much action and it's very political, in nature. I think anyone expecting something closer to the last Thor movie is going to be disappointed. Having seen Ryan Coogler's last movie, Creed, I can see this being the case as his history shows that he's more focused on character development than big action set pieces.
As far as the box office, it will good although likely not blockbuster. Audiences want to see mindless fun like Jumanji and not thinking movies like Blade Runner. We'll see how it goes. I was able to get tickets for Thursday night's showing so will make up my own mind. |

The super hero genre is played out. Deadpool 2 is the only one I'm looking forward to seeing.
