I want to buy a pelican-like case to keep fish fresh from the asian market til I get home, even if I stop somewhere for an hour or two.
Anything out there for that? |

A tactical fish carrying case?
Something against a cooler? For a couple of hours pretty much the cheapest cooler in the world would work. |

Check out this company called igloo. They make contraptions to keep shit cold.

This is The Secret that the Boss Cooler hinted at, before it was brutally stolen from us, forever.

The factor in a box for your application is how long do you need the ice to last? A Tupperware tub would work for hours. I super fancy insulated chest would work better when you are looking at days and no source to replenish ice.

In a pinch I've used a cardboard box from the liquor store with a garbage bag as a liner. Don't overthink it if you're too cheap to buy a cooler.
Buy a bunch of frozen foods to put in there with it and save on ice. |

Someone (maybe) jokingly suggested OP's account was AI. I laughed at the time, but the next thing that's going to happen is that they're going to ask if you can make hamburgers from ground beef.

I want it to be slim enough to put in my backpack. So not a chest.

How big of a fish are we talking?
I have a small lunch bag cooler thingy that fits six cans of beer and I carry it inside a small backpack often. (It makes me the most popular guy at the gun show. ) |

2hrs - it does not take a military grade ice chest. Actual insulation would be nice, but probably not necessary - cheap double walled would probably work for up to 12hrs. If you are dealing with larger fish - fishermen will sometimes use soft side bags.

View Quote technically a whale shark is a fish, so you need a container large enough to hold "any" fish? fruit growers express might have some surplus refrigerated boxcars available for sale, or lease. that would carry a properly dressed whale shark, although, i kinda thinik it would be illegal to harvest one. how about a blue marlin, or maybe a swordfish? these are also "any fish", but honestly, fitting them into your hello-kitty knapsack is gonna be a tough one. pro tip: if you buy a fish (any fish) and need to take it home, just fucking take it home. make your extra, unneeded bullshit stops, after you drop off your any fish. |
