Well, as long as they are only doing unconstitutional things against people you don't like, I guess it's fine.

No, Trump supporters remind me of the parent that can never find fault with their children.

Like no matter what the kid does, the parent will always have an excuse for them and put the blame on others.

I'm sure you've met these type of parents.

Doesn't matter how many classmates have the same negative encounters with your child, how many teachers for years say the same thing, how many coaches say the same thing, how many babysitters repeat the same thing, nope, it's a vast conspiracy that everyone has the exact same stories and describes your kid in the exact same way.

It's not your kid's fault, everyone that has met him with the same stories are all liars! Right?

It's just coincidental that no kids want to be around your kid because of the way he's treated them in the past.

All the people that have great things to say about your kid are mysteriously silent. Not a peep.

Or the people that do speak positively are the other bad/weirdo kids (like in Trump's case, Guiliani, Micheal Cohen, Flynn, Manafort, etc..)

Again, for parent's like this, their kid is perfect. You can have hundreds of people giving personal testimonies (that have spent significant time with your kid) that all say similar things, give similar stories, and easily show a pattern.

Nope the parent's excuses will continue with

"all of those people saying those things about my kid are liars"

OR

"all the other kids are bad too, not just mine"

OR

"It's a conspiracy against my kid"

OR

"He's just the victim and they're all attacking/persecuting him!"

When a parent is so brainwashed into believing their kid can do no wrong, they'll find excuses for everything.

Want to know why? Because the second they admit their kid is an actual piece of shit, they'll have to admit they're responsible to allow it to happen.

Much easier to keep shifting the blame on others rather than taking responsibility and realizing your kid pulled the wool over your eyes.

And until that happens, the kid won't change. He knows he'll always have his parents supporting and enabling him regardless of what he does. So he has zero consequences to change his behavior.

He can do what he pleases and always have mom and dad cheering him on.

Basically it's the same as Trump. Trump knows he can do anything and his diehard supporters (like the "parents" above) will make endless excuses.

That's exactly it.

Rather than seeing Trump as he is, am elitist NYC billionaire with an almost 50 year history of lawsuits (starting in early 70s), public legal drama, and an almost mafia-like "no one can touch me" attitude towards the law, somhow he's convinced his followers "he's just like them" and he's a Christ-like persecuted figure.

Charles Kushner, the father of Jared, was also a shady NYC real estate guy that ended up going to Federal Prison. He shared a similar past as Trump and both ran in the same circles.
When he went to prison, did NY'ers shed a tear and think "Man, if they're coming after him, they're coming after me next!" Or instead, "Sounds like he's finally facing consequences."

In 2005, he was convicted of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion, and witness tampering, and was sentenced to two years' imprisonment, which he served in the Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery. As a convicted felon, he was also disbarred in three states. He later received a federal pardon issued by his son's father-in-law Donald Trump on December 23, 2020.[5][6] Kushner has donated significant amounts to Trump's campaigns.[7]

What do "sides" have to do with it. We are forced to pick the lesser of two evils at this point, and the lesser's ideals more closely (see not even that fucking close) line up with mine. If you line up closer to Biden, well then that's who you will be supporting. It really is a simple game once you know the rules.

I don’t line up close to Biden, particularly with respect to gun control, but Trump lines up very close to Biden.  That’s the problem, there is no lesser evil.

As for “sides”, look at the post I was actually responding to…

People don't care about details like that. If they did, we wouldn't have had so many people being okay with Alex Jones being court-ordered to pay over 1.4 billion just because he said some shit.

Everyone is just doing what they want these days and ignoring what is right/wrong.

He should have pardoned them instead of democrat politicians and rap musicians.

How much has he contributed to their legal defense? I hear there was $250 mil of stop the steal cash leftover that wasn’t used to stop the steal. None of that could be used to help them?
How many rallies has he done on the steps of the jail demanding fair treatment?

My understanding is that one must be convicted first, in order to be pardoned.

POTUS can pardon federally, and governors of each state can pardon for state-level convictions.

Pretty sure 0 to the last one.

Seems the left has been using all this as a huge legal broadsword to vindictively swing against anyone anyone who “challenged” them on J6, and also to shut Trump up, and maybe shut him down with perfect timing to prevent him running again this time.

The J6 riot was a fools errand carried out by anti-gov right wing extremists. Trump would be an idiot to support them. Their goal was to over throw the Gov and reverse the election results. Let’s say that it was a success- our PRESIDENT  would be that guy in speedos and Buffalo fur.

Even if they completely took over the building- they wouldn’t seize power of anything.  A swat team would have went in  dragged them out kicking and screaming.

Now the group leaders are begging for mercy and blaming everyone but themselves.

A President can pardon anyone at anytime for a possible federal offense. No conviction or indictment is needed.

Ford did it for Nixon before anyone had a chance to indict him.   Thus he was not indicted since he was pardoned for any issues related to watergate

Andrew Johnson pardoned mist confederates who may have been indicted and thus none were indicted he pardoned since they were pardoned for their actions during the civil war
