I want to know why people bother fishing for bream when they could just fish for something with a lot more meat on it like a Grouper or even a big Tuna? Bream are so small and so little meat and all that bone and having to scale and gut each one. It's just nuts!

They fit in a skillet and are fun to catch for men, women, and children of all ages. That's why.
Probably because I don't live near an ocean and panfish are amazing.
IMO, the all the smaller "sunfish" are indeed a royal pain in the ass to clean vs. the meat you get, but when cleaned and fried correctly, in my mind it's the very best tasting fish on the planet, hand-down, and we eat a lots of fish. When I was younger, I did a lot of fresh and salt water fishing.

Because fishing is fishing, if you enjoy it, you enjoy it.
Not to mention, I personally have never been able to mandate what fish take the bait and what ones don't. |

Because if you fish in water that has them, you WILL catch them, they fight hard for their size and they're delicious. Excellent target species if fishing with kids. They catch something before getting bored, and it's something worthwhile. You'll likely run out of bait before you run out of biting fish.

LOL.
Seriously, though, fried bream is one of my favorite meals. |
Easy to catch, always biting, taste great.
Fight well for their size. |
Because there is nothing more fun than fishing with an ultralight rig, 4# test mono, and tube jigs, then hooking up a big Blue Gill.
.......and they make a hell of a great sandwich when fried. |
Grouper and tuna aren’t exactly accessible to a lot of ppl. Pound for pound bream put up as good a fight as any on light tackle or cane pole
Where do you fish that has both Tuna and Bream in the same waters? The only time I fish for them is if I need catfish bait
Whole fried bluegill or sac-a-lait are awesome.and worth the work.
I love fishing for Bream.... fishing for me is supposed to be relaxing and fun. Panfish provide both in abundance!

Pound for pound they are the most fightingest fish you'll ever get. They are fun for everyone and are ALWAYS hungry.
Taste great when grilled too |

A big blue gill head on bone in fried with some salt and pepper and dill. Good stuff. 10 pounds of Crappie fillets deep fat fried along with hush puppies is better stuff.

I can't fillet a bream worth a shit with a knife, but with an electric fillet knife it's a piece of cake.

When you’re fishing for bass all day and don’t even get a bite you need something to happen that allows you to claim success that day.
“Y’all catch any fish?” “12!” |

Quoted: +1 Yup, one after the other. I've only had bream once in my life. Ironically, it was in Hungary when I was a kid. We went to a market and they had them there freshly fried. I just remember it tasted awesome. We don't have bream around here which is sad. But we have white and yellow perch that are also awesome fried. One thing about frying a fish whole is you can flake off all the meat from the bones. Delicious! This is what the bream looked like in Hungary: https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/18/e9/fb/e8/keszeg.jpg View Quote Supposed to taste good though, especially smaller ones. |

Catch small sunfish, unhook and rehook through meaty part of tail. Gently , toss back out about 20 feet. Big bass love sunfish. You're welcome.

Extreme fun to catch on light tackle and the best tasting freshwater fish.
Does that answer the question? |
