From the survey at anthrocon, 1 in 4 Furries are also bronies, with over 5000 Furries at anthrocon means there were quite a number of them there. And yes they overlap due to being anthropomorphic animals.

I would argue that in order to be a furry one must wear a fursuit. The urban dictionary does broaden the definition to even people that like anthropomorphic animals but, I would argue that definition is too broad as almost everyone has enjoyed the likes of mickey mouse or a host of other popular cartoons at some point in their life. Brony with no fursuit not a furry |

I really think there's no contest - you could live or work next door to a furry or a bronie and you'd probably never know it. I bet you'd know it if you lived next door to some hard-core juggalos.

juggaloes > bronies > furries
if you combine any of the 3 above, you're lower than the lowest in your combination so broniefurs are below furries |

To break the quite tree, the main definition of furry has always been an interest in anthropomorphic animals, read the "what is furry" faq on anthrocons website.

I would argue that in order to be a furry one must wear a fursuit. View Quote I think that that constrains the definition of "furry" in a way that makes it less useful. "Fursuiter" is a term used to describe the subset of furries who are into fursuits. There are lots of people who consider themselves furries and who would self-identify as furries (and who would be described by observers as furries) who don't own, wear, or desire any component or element of a fursuit. Calling anyone who has a passing interest in any character that is in any way an anthropomorphic animal a furry would be broad to the point of uselessness, but I think constraining it to fursuiters is also unhelpful, since there's already a word for "fursuiter". ETA: Regarding the actual topic of the thread, I've never seen or talked to a juggalo in real life, or even in a personal way on the internet, so I dunno. I know about the face paint, and the penchant for booze and drugs, and the fondness for hatchets. I don't think I've ever even heard an ICP song. |
