Loved mine, and if you like attention it turns heads. Exhaust in sport mode sounds heavenlywith some nice pops on decel. Very neutral handling, no surprises when pushing it around corners. You will not be disappointed if you're not a tall or fat guy. I'm 5ft 9 and it felt little cramped at first. The bolsters are nice but I don't have love handles. |

Quoted: Day dreaming a little. I am 46 and a year out from a bad divorce and thinking of finally doing something for me. I have found Corvettes that are a few years old, 7-8 year old Porsche, newer Supra, Maserati few years old, and some slightly used BMWs. What suggestions does the collective wisdom of GD have? View Quote Camaro SS 1LE, Mustang Mach 1, Hellcat Challenger :) Wait until summer to buy. Used car market is on the verge of collapsing. Car repos are through the roof, which will push a bunch of cars through the used markets. More supply should cause prices to drop significantly. |

Personally I’d be looking for a Porsche.
Corvettes are a lot of sports car for not a lot of money. |

Audi S3,
Golf R, Mustang GT IMO those are the only 3 actual choices. mustang if you want to drag race. other 2 if you want to turn. |

You can get a really nice base 981 Cayman or 981 Cayman S at that price point.
If you like driving, NA engines and corner agility......you won't go wrong. |

OP, Nothin screams blowhard like a Vette. So if your a construction gc, have a hairy chest and love gold chains then you must get a vette. You’ll be the star of the show at 24 hour fitness in your late 40’s trying to pick up chicks. If you’re a ginger, short, were generally picked on most of your childhood or like fat chicks then a Chrysler/Ram is your best bet. If you’re a normal dude then proceed with the European or Japanese cars.

Do you have a reliable daily driver? Is this 50 grand for "extra stuff?"
If I had a reliable daily and my budget for toys was 50K I would buy a 40 grand Corvette. a 7 grand bike and a 3 grand bike. (For me that would be a used sport touring bike and a used adventure bike) |

View Quote Golf R and RS3 are not age-appropriate for a 43 year old. Of those 3, the Mustang GT is hard to argue with. They are popular for a reason. I have an S2000 and would recommend one. OP shouldn’t buy based on what others think. Cloners may spec their rifles in a way that works for somebody else, but cars are a big investment that don’t usually appreciate. |

The most fun you can have in a street car bar none. Anyone can go in a straight line fast but let’s seem em take a sharp turn at speed. Attached File |

I am in the same boat as OP but budget is a little higher at $70K. I am really torn between an M3 or 911 Carrera S. It is a tough decision.

911 is bullet proof. Corvette, not so much.
Get a 2007 911 turbo. That was the last year of the metzger motor that won 24 hr lemans. Just be safe. Couldn't keep my foot out of the floor and 200mph is not safe, even if the track is clear. At some point your luck will run out. |

Or buy it anyway, it's not that expensive to fix and they are beautiful cars. I enjoyed mine, but moved on. |

1976ish Vette... Build it up real nice, save 25K for road trips.
T tops Side pipes. Crate engine/trans. Really good two-tone paint, 70s throw back theme. Drive it until the wheels fall off. Travel. See new shit. Hell, put a CB in it for kicks. It ain't gotta be new to be cool. It ain't gotta be expensive to be attractive. |

Likely gonna be close to 60k into my 66 Mustang by time it is all said and done. Half a car worth of sheet metal waiting for it to goto bodyworl after I iron out a few more things.
380whp with road racing suspension/brakes. Love it more than my 2015 GT Perf Pack. It is all fucking analog experience, doesnt do shit witbout you telling it to and it will remind you of your mortality with a quickness if you are stupid. Do your homework and goto Mecum/Barrett and see if you can find a restomod with all the work done that will go for 1/3 of what the dude has into it. Otherwise I vote Vette or 911 or Cayman. If you upped the money a bit more I would vote Camaro ZL1-1LE and I am a Mustang fan. |

If you can find a place to rent the cars you're considering, rent each one for a week. You're about to spend a lot of money on strangers' advice and a 30 minute test drive. Driving 200 miles in each car will tell you a lot about which you'll be happier in.

Quoted: So is 6'2" with a normal build out of the question? I've never driven one, would really like to know. @d_duck View Quote My friend is 6' 2" and he fit fine in the passenger seat but I wouldn't want to be his size on a long drive. As a true 2 seater if you are tall and have long legs you wont be able to recline the seat much and will have to sit more upright. So to answer your question, you will fit but your long term comfort will depend on your body shape. If they made the R model in manual I would have bought that and kept the car. |

Quoted: I honestly don’t know what they sell for so maybe $50k isn’t enough…but personally I’d look for an early Dodge Viper. That was the dream car of my childhood and I still love the way they look to this day. 1998: https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/527049/A5CA943A-9CB0-44FB-A77C-DEC521A47CC0_jpe-2755765.JPG View Quote Viper prices have gone way up in the last three years. 50k use to get you that GTS dream car, but I don’t think a good one is going to fit the budget. All those kids of the 80’s and 90’s are starting to get some coin and that’s got to be a highly sought after car for that demographic. |

I had a 1970 911T sunroof coupe that was rusty AF, then picked up a 1969 911T Targa that had some storage neglect and an engine that was toast... I swapped the '70 engine and trans into the '69 body and got it driving. I lost the passion for it and ended up selling it. I was planning on more of a resto-mod with it... if I had kept it and got it to where I wanted it, I bet I could sell it for over $50k easy. |
