Man just when you think you’ve heard it all, San Francisco and Oakland now have a pirating problem.

There is zero new about that, they just decided to slap the name “pirate” and run an article.

Pitates don't steal unoccupied boats. Pirates board occupied boats, take the cargo at gunpoint, force the men to walk the plank, and abscond with the women and booze.

Isn't there a part of you that wants to combat pirates while being formal on a boat? I don't know why I think it's in our blood as men. If I'm on a decent size enough boat I often will refer to other guys on the boat by Mister and it gives me a lot of joy. MISTER GOLF, CHECK THE BEER PLEASE |

My idiot cousin had the bright idea to swim into a marina with an empty garbage can floating next to him, then fill the can with expensive radios and navigation gear and swim back out (he lived near the marina).
Couple of problems: 1. The can sank (lol). 2. The marina had security and cameras and he got caught (I'm pretty sure they kicked his ass too - this was a while ago). 3. He called his uncle for bail. His uncle had a boat in that very marina. Didn't go so well. I'm sure boats have long been a target for theft because everything associated with them is expensive. |

MISTER GOLF, CHECK THE BEER PLEASE I read alot of books about the Royal Navy in the 1700s/1800s, and the captains and officers always put on the Number 1 Uniform before going into battle. Can you imagine? Knee breeches, stockings, little buckle shoes, a vest, a long coat, and a BIG hat just to get in a sword fight and get covered in blood? They did have style though. |

I know a person who has a boat berthed in Sausalito CA, he keeps a Weatherby .378 magnum on board.
I asked him why that particular caliber, his answer was he wanted something that could punch through most hulls. |

How big of a cannon could you mount to a 35 foot sailboat? And would you want the gun forward or aft (assuming "get both if you can't get enough for a decent broadside" doesn't apply for weight reasons)?

Do you live near SF? If so............Contact a boat owner with a yacht over 45 feet. Offer to live on their boat for free when they are not using it which is 95% of the time. Offer to protect it.
You live rent free. They have security. Modern solutions to modern problems. I lived there a while back and often thought of that but theft wasn't an issue. |

Funny they show a pic of CG Island bridge.
That area was looking like something out of Water World the last time I was there. |
