Did a good job in this incident, AF cop shot an active shooter some 80 yds or so away IIRC. Book at the link is a good read too.

Quoted: But wouldn't they pass the knowledge down and keep the machines running? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Taurus 92 series copy cat pistols are made on Beretta equipment that was purchased (with the factory) when Beretta left brazil. from Wiki: "In 1980, after Italian arms manufacturer Beretta had completed its contracts to produce firearms for Brazil's military, Taurus purchased Beretta's So Paulo manufacturing plant along with the tooling, technical drawings, and work force necessary to produce several different pistol designs." It's my understanding the pt92 is pretty good because of this. Taurus also makes Rossi tagged revolvers. Machines wear out. And frankly they've made enough changes that a lot of the original tooling wouldn't work. I've some experience with 92s, and I have a LTT Elite. Owned a newer PT92 that I got in trade for a couple months before I flipped it towards another G19. It just didn't "feel" like a quality gun. Too much slop everywhere I think. It was probably a fine gun, but I didn't like it, and I went into the trade expecting to like it due to the safety position. I've actually come to appreciate the 92's safety as a decocker in G configuration. For an actual safety I'm ambivalent, but I don't think there's a better decocker on the market. |

Love Beretta's.
Have a mid 90s 92fs, 1998 Vertec, 90-TWO. Now I want another. BTW, I have a 90-TWO slide, barell (complete upper) spring and guiderod for .40 S&W with 5 mags. I acquired a complete 90-TWO in .40 S&W then purchased all the parts to convert it to 9mm. |

I love my 2 92fs'. Got 5hem both off of Murfreesboro, TN cops that were selling their privately owned Beretta's to purchase Ruger .40's they were issuing.
Got them both for $250 each. Lots of holster wear. Internally like new. |

I’ve always wanted one. Have even been tempted to carry one if I ever buy one. Good carry gun? Don’t carry about the size. Most full size guns can be carried with proper holster and gun belt.

The 92 is something I've wanted for a while now. For you guys who use them as a daily carry, which variant is the best? Conversely, which is the best for a nightstand gun? (Assuming non railed for carry and railed for at home).
Does anyone here carry a railed model? |

I used to have a first year production 92. It had the frame safety(like the Taurus) and the heel mag release. Neat pistol.

(Assuming non railed for carry and railed for at home). Does anyone here carry a railed model? View Quote I am a huge Beretta fan, specifically the 92 series. Got quite a few of them, so here's my two cents. The 92 cannot be separated into daily carry and nightstand gun on anything but aesthetics. The 92 comes in one size, it just has variants with a slightly shorter barrel (better part of an inch) and slightly shorter grip. IMHO the grip length really isn't enough to be substantive, and I have two Compacts. The shorter barrel length on the Compact is fairly substantial, and the loss of length doesn't really affect velocity so there is no reason beyond being a collector to get a full size. That leaves the Centurion size to be in my opinion the best "only one to have" Beretta 92. It has the full size grip, shorter barrel, it's as small as a 92 can get without losing capacity for a tiny bit shorter grip. However the Compact, if you get an X-Grip spacer and full size magazines, can be both a Centurion and a Compact as you can switch between the shorter and full size grip. So unless you must have that slightly longer barrel the Compact size is the most flexible and will serve as nightstand or carry. As for the rail, that's purely an aesthetic choice as it doesn't really ad much bulk to the frame, you won't notice it in size or weight while carrying. If you're going to use it as both get the railed version for the flexibility in mounting a light. If you're feeling flush with cash or simply love 92s like I do you will have a non-railed Compact with X-Grip spacer and a railed full-size LTT Elite to sit on your nightstand because it has many QoL improvements. Also try the Vertec Grip vs Standard, the former has grips that make it fit like a standard so it may just behoove you to get that and call it a day. In short: Compact Vertec (92x) with Rail, a few full size 17 round magazines, a few compact 15 round magazines, and a few X-Grip adapters is the best all-around 92 if you're going to have just one. |

Quoted: What is this 'dustcover', and what is the 'G' conversion? View Quote G = Gendarmerie. This version was originally made for the French (who produced it under license as the PAMAS G1), who wanted a straight decocker instead of a decocking safety. If you own a 92G, you should be appropriately snooty and probably should consider owning a beret. |

Thats the end goal for mine, but good luck finding a holster. I've heard about that conundrum, I do use an IWB Phlster floodlight with an tlr 1 at the moment and that seems to be one of the few options. The Blackhawk omnivore is a decent option for an OWB holster with active retention for range larping as well as the OWB floodlight. Without an light Im not sure whats out there at the moment. |

I prefer the M1911A1 series due to it being made up of fewer parts and thus less prone to breakage (such as trigger springs or magazine release assemblies that I've witnessed), but I still own two Beretta 92s that I enjoy, so call me conflicted. For all their faults, they are well made and a high quality handgun. Arms Unlimited had M9s for $525.00 last week and I was sooooo tempted to buy a third. |

I really like my M9A1 with a G slide I picked up cheap before the new lever kit was available.
A few things tho that make me shake my head... Why isn't the front sight dovetailed, it might more rugged but it is a pain for non-mil shooters. Why wasn't the G the default it is a much better system.. Why aren't SA versions more available, they only seem to build them for special editions.. I don't baby my guns but I scratched the shit out of the trigger guard bottom shooting off the edge of a roof, I should know better, but polymer holds up better to such issues.. I've almost pulled the trigger on a 92X Performance a couple times recently, if we get next 1400 stimulus I'm in.. |
