I am a very quiet, private person. Married living in a quiet neighborhood ( 80% retired, 20% young couples first homes) Get out of my truck and there is a $%^&* drone on my front grass. Just got a new neighbor with 3 kids. I asked the oldest son if it was his?
Very polite young man replies he does not own one. So now what? Should I bring the drone inside, remove the memory card and prank the owner with videos? I have nothing to spy on and live a boring life. Hate drones and see them as an intrusion. What says the hive? |

If owner can't be found keep it? Get a controller and fly around your local state park?
|

What kind is it? An inexpensive toy drone, or a nice DJI? A lot of the cheaper ones will fly out of range and lose control especially with a kid flying it. Either way someone would appreciate getting it back. It was most likely someone losing control with their new toy. I doubt anyone was using it to spy on anyone. Probably belongs to a kid.

I do not get the hate.
That being said, a few prank pictures would not be out of line |

Memory card should already be filled with goatse and blue waffles.

You're really gonna flip your shit when you find out those cars driving by have people in them with eyeballs and cameras.

|
Turn it into the cops-wait last time I did that they demanded to see my ID

Could very well just be some kids toy who lost it.
I would pull the memory card and try to find the owner. Not all drone people are creeps. |

Why do think it is spying on you? You know people fly those for fun. Who you plan shooting with that AR? See how that logic is not very good. Lot of time there is contact info on them if it is worth anything. Give it a once over may find a phone number.

If the drone is over a certain weight and the owner followed the law, he should have labeled it with his ID. Try removing the battery to see if there's a label in the compartment.

Drone is just a tool like a gun is, it isnt evil or capable of being evil. But the user certainly is.

Ask your neighbors to ask their neighbors if someone lost one. It isn't that hard to be a good person and an act of kindness is generally better than being an asshole in the long run.
Plus good neighbors might come in handy in the future. Of course YMMV, but it sounds like you live in a nice neighborhood. |

No one is spying on you. It’s a toy. When a kids ball lands in your yard do you see that as an intrusion? Your post comes off as a grumpy old guy post. I’ll wager you are over 50 probably over 60.

When I was a cop I had a call where some kids had kicked their large (basketball sized) soft red rubber, air filled kick ball into some grumpy old guys lawn. He was holding it and refused to return it to the kids or their parents. He wanted me to “book it into evidence and arrest the 10 year old kid for trespassing”. |

They'll hold on to it till the owner request it back or if the owner was doing something hanky panky the owner will not come get pick it up. |

I'd pull the card if there's one to see if any pictures could identify the owner or where they live. Check it for anything written or printed on it that might show the owner and try to return it.
|
|
Look at the video on the card and if there's nothing obviously creepy, try to find out who it belongs to and return it.
|
|
Return it.
Don't fuck with people's property especially if you don't know what you're doing. The owner might have some good pics or video he was trying to take |
|
Go down to the local adult store and buy the cheapest dildo and some of the one use cock rings. Glue the stuff on the drone and then take a photo and post it on the local neighborhood app thing asking who lost it. Report back with the responses.

This is not the drone you're looking for.... (while waving hand)
