I had one also [250] shortest engine lifespan of any 2 stroke I ever owned. Dumped it, bought a TT 500, modded that and rode it for years without any issues other then the usual maintenance and tires, chains and sprockets. Heavy pig but power anywhere in the RPM band made up for a lot of that.

Yes, the three-wheel ABS is operated by the right foot brake.

There's a guy around here that rides one standing up exclusively,except at stop lights where he is practical enough to sit down.. I think he thinks he's in a music video 24/7. Kinda ruined my ability to be objective about Can Ams.

Here's my attempt to correct some of the disinformation here:

There are two models: sport (RS) and touring (RT)

There are two transmission options, manual and semi-auto (thumb upshift, auto downshift).  Both have a reverse gear.

MPG is about 30

Speed is relative.  It's faster than some bikes and slower than others.  If anyone really wants to know 0-60 speed, I'll point the GoPro at the speedo, take it for a ride, and upload the video to Youtube.  Top speed is only limited by the redline (10k) in 5th gear.  I've had mine up to 115 MPH.

My 2009 sport model was $17,000 out the door.  The touring models are more expensive.  I'm told the price is very competitve compared to the cost of a HD or Honda, plus conversion.

It does not lean.  You turn it in the direction you want to go, like a quad.

Handling is easy because it has power steering.  I ride it in twisties all the time, like at Tail of the Dragon in the picture above, and never have a problem.  It has a vehicle stability system (aka, nanny) that senses when a wheel comes off the ground and will cut your throttle to correct it.  I ride mine hard enough that this happens all the time, so I'm considering adding a stiffer aftermarket swaybar.

It has the same 1000cc Rotax engine that's in the Aprila sport bikes, so it likes to run in the area of 5-6K RPM.

It does not have a right-hand brake lever.  The three-wheel ABS is operated by the right foot brake.

Yeah, its like which ear you wear your earring on (apparently it is possible to wear one earring and be neither gay, nor pirate).

I like all motorized things.

I think the Can Am is cool. I'd like to try riding one. Very futuristic looking.

The trikes made from HDs and Gold Wings are IMO pigs.

Now, if you want 3 wheels, but want something a little different, how about a Russian BMW: the Ural.

Old style bike with sidecar. The really cool thing is you can get it with a driven sidecar wheel, so the damn thing can go almost anywhere.





They also have plain colors.

Those are some cool bikes.  Would like to see some regular motorcycles priced under 6K.  The sidecars seem economical enough.

And since I am a girl,  all you guys arguing about gay-not-gay can go take a flying leap.

I want one but I wont buy one for several reasons
a) wife says so
b) Arizona drivers suck and I would probabl ybe dead within a week
c) Arizona summers can get a little hot. I like to sit in a air conditioned car
d) only 30 mpg? That sucks. Motor cycles can get around 50+.

as when I was selling 08s and 09s they were governed limited at 110 MPH
all the sales info said this , the factory reps said this  and I and about everyone else that worked there confirmed it
now that I think about it it was stated as "limited"  wonder if the newer ones are a little peppier



or they have optimistic speedos just like most motorcycles

If Can-Am 4 wheelers count, my brother in law just bought one. NICE toy, the thing's got some power!

The Spyder would make a great candidate for the Wesll suspension .

Honestly: If this is the reason you are using to justify the purchase of a Can Am, I'd have to point out that the ride itself can't be degrees better than an Ultra-Classic, or one of the wonder-cruisers the Japanese make.

If you want one––just get one!  (but don't say it's because you have a bad back––if that's your concern, you should probably look into a convertible, or maybe surgery)

I've only seen one in our town.  Driven by a rich old white guy (retired civil service engineer).

It can be found in the Denny's parking lot daily.

If you are riding, I am not complainin.
