Its neat. I really had intentions of throwing the ACOG on there but I guess I liked the irons more.

Idk Ill sit back and watch this thread. Maybe Ill get some inspiration to mount it and use it like I intended

More recent, this got a lot of REEEE comments about height over bore.

I had one years and years ago. I like the fact that I didn't have to bend my neck. Sold the optic and went to flat tops. Now my neck hurts.

I liked the little 1x trijicon on the drop down mount that co-witnesses.

It's the original high-rise mount. What's old is new again, in a crappier version.

Please excuse the PoorsCOG.

No complaints with all the Aimpoint and Scopes in 1.93" mounts. I like a little higher mount myself. Especially in cold weather gear or wearing a helmet.

Optics on carry handles were 40 years ahead of their time for NVG risers.

Go for it.  The ACOG is the best optic for a carry handle.  Much nicer than the old scopes.

I have a similar switch.
Mine - very string double sided tape.

Where can a guy/girl source an A1 upper?

I don’t want a detachable carry handle.

Same here. Can only find an A2 at Model 1 sales it seems.

Also, would an A2 upper receiver work with F marked FSB with taller sight post? Or just using elevation in the rear sight?

The TA45 is the only one with enough eye relief to run it like an Aimpoint.  It works well in this role atop an A2. If you have an A4 then discard that 10oz handle and get one of those battery acogs.

We used put a second mounting hole for the ACOG further aft. You have to allow for the hex wrench to rotate below but you can push the sight back. My "bump-in-the-night" has a nice bright ACOG set back on a carry handle mounting. Big white laser and smaller green and visible lights up front. I have another dedicated rifle with a FLIR PRO PTS223 thermal and a PVS-14 helmet for when the EOTWAWKI finally reaches the deepest part of the North Woods.

Thanks, my first AR was a fixed carry handle and I've got a soft spot for them. The Blood Diamond CAR thread from a while back inspired me to modernize it a bit. I don't really care about anything period specific, but I want a practical RDS and light on mine. The standard light pressure switch on a bayonet mount is pretty awkward.

Had a BM patrolman M4 16.5 with A2 upper in 2005 Iraq

Put a Acog on the A2 handle. It worked well after training with it a little.

2008 Iraq I was issued a civilian DoubleStar M4 16.5 upper  with rails.
Acog and JPoint red dot on top of Acog...best set up I have ever run.

I learned to shoot on the A2 uppers.

Love them

I admit there is a strange practical attractiveness.

I'm waiting on a PSA A1 clone so I can use the carry handle mount for PA 3x prisms.

This is probably the best time to be a cheap ass in the AR world
