That actually looks really good. I came in here expecting it to look like shit TBH. Well, the beauty of it is that if I end up hating it, I can just chuck it all in a pot of black dye and it'll just look like standard Magpul |

OP, did you use Vinyl Dye for that? Looks great! If Rit dye is vinyl, then yes. If it's not, then no |
That looks actually very good. I see you payed good attention to details. I give it a thumbs up!
Interesting...I would love to see a thread about how to do this.
In all honesty, I like it, far more than I thought I would.
How-to thread needed. |

That lower looks cool in a way I cannot verbalize.
I don't know WHY I like it, but I do. |

Dyed makes alot more sense. I see all these cool paint jobs here, but I would imagine there are major issues getting paint to adhere to plastic.
Aren't they just going to be flaking and chipping away with the slightest bumps? |

MOE handguards next? I'd be interested to see a tutorial. Would probably go for more camouflaged colors, but I like the pattern.
Wouldn't be my optimal choice for colors, but the pattern looks really cool.

OP that looks much better than I had imagined.
You need to post up a how-to. |
glad you like it but its a bit to much for me. I am more of a traditionalist.

Awesome.. that would look great with green on FDE parts..
Can you tell us more about the technique to do this ? |
Actually looks pretty good. When I read "red tiger stripe" I thought I was in for some laughs. Good stuff.

Well, waddya think? Just finished building this guy today. The design is dyed in, not painted. That means no scratches, chips, or having to worry about it getting wet. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e236/Snarky15/SDC11505.jpg Is that a spikes trigger in a Palmetto lower?? |
I like it - very original and it separates you from the crowd. Big thumbs UP

Way to come through on the How To requests, OP
Did you guys even know we have a refininshing forum? http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_19/349174_Tutorial__Dyeing_patterns_into_PMAGS_and_other_polymer_parts.html This is the original how to dye thread, but there's a few others in that forum also. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_19/342921_RIT_dye__how_do_you_do_it_.html |

Wow, I really wasn't expecting this kind of response. I'm about to leave town for the weekend, but I'll post a detailed tutorial on Monday. Thanks for the compliments!
Also, the process I outlined in my original "how-to" thread for the mags is pretty close to what used for my most recent project. I just used different colors. The base color is Rit "Rose Pink," and the stripes were done with Rit black. More details to come... |
Hey guys, so as per your requests I posted a detailed tutorial here
Looks damn good man.
I expected to click and it look like a damn joke, but I must say, well done! |
Not to shabby at all. Looks pretty good for doing it yourself.
