Wealthy western liberals have grown up in such comfort and ease that they can't comprehend the horror of any major break down in society so this film will be laughable at best.
Plus, this is going to be pure leftists anti-conservative propaganda. If you want to sit through the equivalent of a two hour lecture on how evil you are then by all means go see it. I'll pass. |

View Quote Did I hear that right in the trailer, California and Texas secedes and I assume are the ones in rebellion? How in the world would, even in fantasy land Hollywood, would that happen? Cali is extreme far left, and Texas is well... Texas, no way that changes overnight. That alone seems a bit much for the viewer to accept. Edit to add: Right at the start the narration mentions "19 states seceded" and "western forces and Florida alliance" and at the 33 second mark is the mention of western forces being Texas and California. |

FWIW, I think they just paired them up so that contemporary Americans wouldn't accuse the film of political bias. |

There is a reversed reflection of a national map with TX and CA in blue, with several north central/western states in red and a swath in white along with some southern states also possibly in red. |

There are some unverified rumors/leaks that the national split isnt over rep/dem or race, one leak says there is some sci-fi aspect where near future tech or invention that causes unrest and the split.
Also it says president Ron Swanson is on his 3rd term so that might be part of it if hes going the dictator route. |

Trailer looked dumber then hell.
"Shoot journalists on site in the capital." California, Texas, and Florida teaming up? Nick Offerman? Skipping this one. |

Wouldn't surprise me at all based off the director's words that they try to claim some kind of sci-fi reason causing the break up while showing it's the right wingers who are really the bad guys to deflect from it being a "political message". |

Could be dogshit, who knows. Not going to make any predictions until I see it. https://www.vulture.com/2023/10/a24-action-movies-ip.html A24 the auteur-focused studio behind such films/classic Halloween costumes as Pearl, The Lighthouse, and Everything Everywhere All at Once is looking to diversify. By becoming the same as all the other studios. The Wrap is reporting that A24 is looking for "action and big IP projects" as part of a new strategy "deemphasizing the traditional character/auteur-driven dramas" the studio has made previously. A24 became the first studio in Oscars history to win the big six categories (all the acting awards, plus Best Picture and Best Director) last year, but does that equal big buckets of cash in a Scrooge McDuck-style vault? Apparently not. In pursuit of their Scrooge McDuck money pit dreams, A24 will be "widening the aperture" of their offerings giving people cinema about generational trauma, but also movies with shit blowing up. Or, in the case of Everything Everywhere All at Once, both. |

Quoted: I didn't get that at all. I thought they were just depicting the reality of the situation, which is that most people would just be neutral and go about their lives as best as they can. Every man, woman and child isn't just going to pick up an AK and start slotting people they're politically opposed to. Many people in the Civil War, on both sides, fought begrudgingly. The Irish didn't want to fight for the liberation of blacks. They rioted against the draft. View Quote Equally possible, if not more probable. Combine that with them not being able to answer what kind of Americans they are seems to indicate that theme. |

I appreciate the fact they came up with some fictional scenario and didn't try to shoehorn it into current events. Looks promising, will watch.

I bet it's non-political in terms of todays red/blue debate but based on some sort of made-up grievance.

There's no red, but I suppose how you could assume you're seeing red, distorted through reflection\referaction, but I think that's more of an effect of being "trained" for so long looking at political maps using red and blue. How much complaining do you do when you watch porn? Sheesh. View Quote LOL are you involved in the movie? Seems you are a bit upset. The problem with movie posters and trailers is they no longer have anything to do with the actual movie anymore. But I am really hoping this movie goes the way I want it to. So much so that I am jerking off watching the trailer on repeat.
