Nice job you liberal fucks.
Colorado DMV just revoked the titles to all military surplus vehicles. They will only be issued an “ORV” (Off Road Vehicle.) title. This includes HMMV vehicles even if it was purchased from a dealer as a civilian vehicle when new. You spent $70k on a brand new Hummvee H1 from your local Chevy dealer when they came out? Fuck you, you can’t drive it on the street anymore. Bought a surplus HMMV and spent $50k to put it back together correctly? Fuck you, you can’t drive it on the street anymore. Got grandpas flat fender Jeep he bought as surplus after WWII and restored it? Fuck you, you can’t drive it on the street anymore. No more surplus vehicles in parades either. This was a silent and sudden law. “Arbitrary and Capricious” anybody? Fuck you Military Vehicle Owners 3. Can any Surplus military vehicle be registered for on road use? The only surplus military vehicles that can be registered for on-road use are vehicles that are leased or owned by a municipality, county or fire protection district for the purposes of assisting with firefighting efforts, including mitigating the risk of wildfires. View Quote What about the surplus .mil vehicles LE agencies have? 8. I currently have a M998 (HMMWV) registered with a Colorado license plate. What will happen with that registration? The registration will be permitted to remain until it expires at which time it cannot be renewed or you can cancel it you will be eligible for a credit for another vehicle that you own. This credit is valid until the end of the registration period of the Surplus Military Vehicle. No refunds will be issued. The currently issued title will be replaced with an OHV title, and will be mailed to you at no additional charge. View Quote You want Killdozer? This is how you get Killdozer. Fucking pricks |

Attach smv triangle, drive it anyway. No officer, this is farm equipment, for farming.

Register out of state to get around bullshit.
Like Vermont Ask me how I know |

Horrible. I can't believe that it includes H1s. They have full DOT approval like any other passenger vehicle.
|
|
Can't have vehicles of war out on the streets unless they're driven by agents of the state, then it's different.
|
|
|
Can't have those terrible war machines on our streets. Meanwhile Shitavious rolls around doing drivebys in a vehicle with no tag, a broken windshield, and no working brakelights.
|

There are a ton of bad roads in Colorado in the mountains. This is just another way to mess with the rural people from the city.

Lawsuits should be incoming... BIGLY. And all legal fees should be taken taken frim every communist scumbag who helped write it or voted for it.

I hope a bunch of people sue the fuck out of the state and get this turned around. Doubtful, but this type of shit can't go unchecked. CO is really circling the drain.
|
|
Besides them just being assholes my guess is this is a way to get as many military style vehicles out of civilian hands as possible!

Obvious statement of the day: liberals destroy everything they touch.
It's a damn shame what has happened to CO. |

"what's the big deal about registering a car?" - naysayer/never happen here guy/karens husband from 1913

Isn't Montana really easy to register vehicles in? I think I've read that a lot of rich people with supercars will make an LLC in Montana to register their vehicles because it's cheap and easy.

How would a commercially manufactured Hummer H1 fall under military surplus vehicle?
Under that logic wouldn't every commercial Jeep also be a mil vehicle? What about Chevy Pick-ups and Blazers? CUCV anyone? |

Why?
ETA: There was a similar situation with VW Sand Rails and Dune Buggies here in TX. Someone attempted to legislate away their pet peeve with unintended over reaching consequences. |

A stree/civilian version H1 isn't a military vehicle, so why would it be affected?
|
|
Suddenly another state will receive all the registration fees CO used to get on those vehicles.

Run farm fuel in it, hang a big BLM fist in the back window. Doubt you’ll get pulled over in Colorado.

Oh man, all those Unimogs in the mountains
gonna piss a lot of people off if those are no more does this get police armored vehicles? I enjoyed living Colorado for a bit, but that place sure seems to suck now |

DOD isn't held to any of the safety/emissions standards the new auto industry is so I guessing the ban is about crash standards and emissions. I'm wrong, confused the GM hummer with American General hummer. |

Mine did have a 17 digit Vin, but I don't remember who was listed as the manufacturer on the title. If it says GM, it is good to go like the H2s and 3s. |

Pretty sure this will get appealed, overturned/amended in regards to H1 owners, if not others as well.

Donald Valdez, one of the sponsors of SB19-054, told The Denver Gazette he never intended for existing registered military vehicles to have their titles effectively revoked. “I believe the intent was to register military vehicles, but in that aspect, I was talking with the Colorado Public Safety and Department of Revenue and at that time they wanted to allow only for historical (military vehicles) and also for use for certain events,” he said. Asked if the statute as the DMV is interpreting it should be reviewed, Valdez said, “Absolutely." Rep. Patrick Neville, who signed on as a co-sponsor, said he cannot recall any discussion indicating an intent that the law be used to revoke titles and removed licensed vehicles from the roads. “I mean if there was discussion about revoking titles, the bill was supposed to make it more permissive, not less permissive,” Neville said. Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg, who was also a co-sponsor of the 2019 law, told The Denver Gazette, “I don't support their interpretation." View Quote |
