My ancestors in Ireland targeted what might be considered a "militarised police unit" - the Black and Tans ( in the way the Gendarmes are a "militarised police unit" ) They also targeted the Royal Irish Constabulary. Sometimes the police serve the population. Sometimes they serve the Govt and subjugate the population. |

The problem that most seem to ignore is that this law was passed by passing the parliament. Since they knew they didn’t have the vote to pass it in the lower chamber , they used the 49.3 which allows to force a law despite the fact that the representant of the people didn’t want it. While constitutional it is highly anti democratic. I think the French should work more, but I also think that if the French don’t want such reform and want to drive their country into a wall, they have the right to do so. I despise macron and the people he represent. It’s unfortunate that cops have to pay the price of this |

You are correct, there was one protest which was by normal people with no violence and there was the French branch of antifa, the global communist youth movement attacking cops and property. You can see the two sides in the daily mail videos. May 1 is international workers day, which is basically a communist celebration. In the video there was graffiti where antifa was attacking that said ACAB. - all cops are bastards. Quite a coincidence, no? And the burning BMW had some spray paint on it about the rich. This is straight out of the commies playbook - use the cover of a legitimate protest to attack the society and it's rule of law while also getting the side benefit of casting some blame on the people who are peacefully protesting. Sound familiar? It's all about chaos. |

It needs to honor that agreement same as if it was a private agreement. Just because it’s government doesn’t give it authority to select even it’s going to hold up their agreements. This does look like it’s more than just people upset about pensions. |
