He was a bit out there at times but his music was pretty good.

Bowie has always been one of my favorites and I literally just bought his new album Blackstar last night. In light of this news the new album is almost haunting in its tone and subject matter. He knew and was telling us, we just didn't understand. RIP Halloween Jack, you were a real cool cat. View Quote Yeah, I just relistened to Blackstar and the tones are definitely there |

Johnny's in America.
Johnny looks up at the stars. Johnny combs his hair. And Johnny wants pussy in cars. Johnnys in America. |

Sad news. I saw the story come up on facebook earlier this morning and thought it was a hoax because there was no corresponding news story.
I grew up listening to his music. Still do. RIP Major Tom. |

Man, that is sad, he was incredible.
I really like the work he did with Trent Reznor, some grade-A stuff. |

Wow, sad news for sure. He just celebrated a birthday last Friday, Jan 8 too.
Goodbye David, RIP. |

On top of his obvious talent, he helped launch the careers of so many... guys like Niles Rogers, Earl Slick and SRV.
In fact had he not met Stevie after being booed off the stage in switzerland, most of the world outside of texas would have never heard of Stevie. |

That cat was one of the greatest pop music innovators of my lifetime.

He's one of my al time favorites. Just downloaded Blackstar last night and really enjoyed the first listen.
I introduced both of my teenage kids to his music recently. They already knew Life on Mars from American Horror Story and Changes because of Shrek. We're all sad now. |

Ground Control to Major Tom... Not Bowie performing, but this is my favorite version of his song. https://youtu.be/KaOC9danxNo Thanks for posting this, Moose. I never bought any of his music but this song was probably my favorite out of his entire body of work. And this version is a particularly nice homage to DB and one that is particularly well produced. |

He said he met his wife while fucking the same bloke. Like, literally at the same time

It was someone English (used the term "bloke") |

I grew up in the 70's and 80's and always loved his music.
I celebrate the man's entire catalog. Yes, he was an odd dude...but name me any genius musician who isn't unique or even down right strange. His talent will be missed. His music shaped and defined a couple of generations. I remember driving from New Orleans to Houston in 1983 to see him in concert on the "Serious Moonlight" tour... I also remember the song "Let's Dance" playing in the background as I learned about love & sex from my girlfriend at the time. Thank you, David Bowie. R.I.P., Starman G |

"Ziggy played guitar, jamming good with Weird and Gilly,

Labyrinth is a movie from my childhood that I've shared many, many times with my own kids (along with The Goonies) and they just love it. I wish there had been a second part containing all the original characters. :( RIP, David Bowie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcxVaN114mk View Quote Always think of that movie whenever I think of David Bowie. Not really my type of music, but the man had talent. RIP. |

may he RIP.
His Little Drummer Boy that he performed with Bing Crosby plays every Christmas around here. Did a good job. |
|
Damn shame. Bowie was a great talent who still had the creative spark. His passing deprives us all of what could have been.
RIP, Diamond Dog. |
