The idea that reduced population will lead to _more_ resources per person is pants on head retarded. Did you not notice that despite the exponential growth of world population the average wealth per person also increased?
Crowding has it's downsides. Reduction of world population from 8bil to 4bil is going to create an economic catastrophe. |

No they were killed and eaten for their meat as it's believed dog meat keeps you warm. |

We live in a society with many more octomoms that we are forced to.support. Claiming depopulation is good when the efforts are directed at us is bit naive. Don't have kids fine, bow out of the abortion debate if you want, but encouraging war and forcing people into experimental jabs and promoting violent crimes like they are doing don't bode for you.

Quoted: Why is depopulation viewed as "bad"? Would you rather live with 8-12 billion people on the planet or 4 billion? View Quote Whoever thinks the planet can't handle more people is a fuckin retard. The only real limitations are physical space and arable land. There are plenty of both to sustain a much larger population. I'd prefer as many people as the planet can possibly sustain (which is MUCH more than we have now), IF those people are going to produce more than they consume. Imagine if we had 6 billion more people on Earth, but none of them were deadbeats on foodstamps. Imagine they were all doctors/engineers/skilled tradesmen. The problem we have is that the vast majority of people consume more than they produce (enabled by the governments that pay them to sit around with their fingers in their asses), most people are on the "liabilities" side of the ledger. |

Quoted: “Every mammal on this planet instictively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area." Agent Smith was right about that. View Quote No, he wasn't. The statement is ludicrous and ignorant. Mammals have no "instinctive equilibrium." Deer bereft of predators overpopulate till they eat out all the food and starve or die of disease. Predators eat out all the food and starve or die of disease or are killed by competitor predators. The populations go bust and boom in cycles of extraordinary suffering. There's no "instinctive" about it. |

I agree, depopulation is good, but not in the areas that people talk about reducing it in.
The 3rd world has experienced an enormous population boom made possible by technology that was not invented by them nor for them. Vaccinations against disease and increased crop yields have lifted the population ceiling in places that weren't ready for it, and just as Europe and the rest of the developed world struggled to recover from 2 disastrous wars. This has led to ever greater globalization, the cheapened value of labor, increased 3rd world immigration, and opportunistic business practices which actively disadvantage the typical western citizen. |

The Green Revolution allowed populations to artificially increase by maximizing food production. Basic medical care reduced infant mortality and advances in medicine reduced deaths from common diseases. This expanded the population at both ends of the age spectrum. But the unbelievably rapid industrialization of the world after WW2 also reduced the number of children being born, simply due to the economics of living in a city versus living on a farm.
Mix evolving social issues in and stir for 50 years...now nearly every industrialized country is dealing with an aging population and a below replacement birth rate. World population is going to peak sometime this century and then drop rapidly to whatever equilibrium the exact situation allows. A greatly shrunken population means less consumption, which will reduce economies of scale and ROI on capital investments. This will reduce the ability of many countries to trade internationally, further reducing consumption and de-globalizing trade. This occurs in the best case, absent other negative events like lethal pandemics, nuclear releases, biological warfare or crash declines due to famines as the Green Revolution is cast aside in the name of Climate Change. Since there are always negative events, and desperate countries like Russia, China, Iran and all of Africa do predictably foolish things...it's gonna get sporty. Best case: we end the century as a de-globalized world of with regional hegemons devolving back to Imperial trade practices, that cause constant resource wars. The population will look like 1960 prior to the Green Revolution. Predictably bad case: Several negative outcomes produce a downward spiral of horrific famines, the return of widespread plagues, genocidal resource wars that destroy trade across vast regions of the globe and of course, nuclear terrorism from apocalyptic regimes. Foreseeable worst case: Multiple countries abandon rational actor status and nuke major economic, industrial and population centers across the world. Pakistan/India. Iran/Israel and US, Russia/Europe. China/Japan, Australia and US. US/Russia, Iran and China. China will do(another) biological warfare release. Many places will release persistent chemical weapons. Catastrophic famine ensues. Then, the Four Horsemen ride unchecked and armed with a century's worth of stockpiled weapons. |
