Why was it banned in the US? feels?
I grew up watching this movie. (born 1964) |
It’s available on the internet archive website.
My kids have watched it. |
It's not banned like it's illegal, it's just not shown by woke business.

They redid the splash mountain ride at Disney because feels
Stupidity |
I sure loved it as a kid. Fond memories. My Mom got me books too.
when i was a kid, we watched it at school assemblies in the auditorium every year.
AFAIK it was only released for commercial sale on a Japanese laser disc which may have been ripped from a film print. The copies sold on the internet seem to be ripped and burned copies of that laser disc, not pressed retail discs.
All that said, it's a fun movie. |

Heckle and Jeckyl - who did those two crows sound like? So racisss!
I can remember going to the theatre and watching it when I was little. One of my favorite all time movies from being a kid. Family member bought the book to read to their kid and they said “we can’t read it because it’s all slang”.
I sat there looked over it a few times and then read the story to my family members child. He loved it and it brought back memories for me. I need to find a copy of that book for me. |
I grew up with all that original Disney stuff(1960's) . I didn't know it was soo bad . All us kids (5) loved it . It's better than the weird shit they have out now .

Disney has to hide the legacies of successful black actors and actresses in the name of wokeness.

Was released in the UK on video in the ‘80s, by Disney. Not taboo over there at the time. With Disney’s reputation of having rabid copyright infringement lawyers, surprised the internet archive has it available. Maybe it doesn’t cross the ‘for profit’ line.
Disney had a business model, while Walt was still alive, of rereleasing movies every few years in theaters. It help keep the Disney name n the public eye when new releases weren’t available. Saw ‘Bambi’, ‘Fantasia’ and ‘Song of the South’ in the local theater in the mid to late ‘60s. Still got a vintage 45 rpm record with sleeve my aunt bought me at the theater concession when SotS was being shown. Will they cancel the Dumbo ride at WDW because there were stereotype crows in the movie? |
I downloaded it. They will probably "disappear it". Fuckers.
I'm still angry I can't get some of the best Little Rascals. Attached File |

Don't forget bugs bunny in blackface, or mocking the Japanese, and Yosemite Sam in a Confederate uniform.

Bugs and daffy playing delivering the draft notice was funny also. I don't think kids would understand looney tunes nowadays |

Tar Baby is "racist". Never mind Uncle Remus and his stories have actual roots in West African traditions, besides being entertaining and educational.
It really is unfortunate, given some modern "music" looks like a minstrel show. If you set out to make blacks look bad, you'd make videos like this. 70th Street Carlos - Big Knots (Official Music Video) |
Some southern black folk acted like Uncle Remus. But Disney doesn’t want to acknowledge that it partakes in popularizing stereotypes, and even post-Confederate Lost Cause propaganda. Their new propaganda to popularize is Woke racism which oddly has similar characteristics as the aforementioned.

Lol. YouTube explains why we are all fucked up.

It’s really too bad that they buried it because at the time it was released it was ground breaking in its blending of live action with animation.
It’s not “banned”. There is no prohibition on owning a copy or viewing it. Disney, whom owns the rights to it, has chosen to not sell copies on home media or allow commercial viewing.
Why? Mostly because of the allegory content and characterization of some Blacks in the South. Nobody is concerned with how Whites are treated in Spike Lee films but SotS is somehow too offensive. |
One of my favorites and I get into heated conversations with Disney cultists often about this movie. They are changing splash mountain from a song of the south ride to something more woke. Makes me mad but you can’t ask a cultist to use independent thought and logic.

I demand that they ban the “Beverly Hillbillies” as it portrays us poor ignorant white people as,well, poor ignorant white people.
You're not allowed to show a black man enjoying life.
Hollywood insists that all black men be portrayed as angry and violent. Y'know, in the interest of not being racist. |

If you really want to see something to make the whole crowd go crazy, watch the old Terrytunes cartoons about Jasper……. Especially the one about the haunted house |

Its on Disney+, I think. Saw it the other day trying to find a be quiet movie.

One of my bosses on a job, who happens to be very left leaning gave me a DVD copy of Song of the South

Because of the stereotypes of the south that's why.
It has been the stupidest move by Disney. |

I've only seen it once or twice, didn't realize it had gone the way of Dukes of Hazzard

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Disney has to hide the legacies of successful black actors and actresses in the name of wokeness. Hattie Mcdaniel deserved every bit of that award. And now they want you to not even know her name. I'm honestly kind of surprised they haven't gone after Esther Rolle by now. If you haven't, you should read some of what she wanted to see Good Times grow into. But of course it didn't fit with the agenda, so they turned it into JJ Walker's Comedy Hour. Not that he isn't funny as all get out, but they could have done that without derailing Good Times. |
