I had some time on my hands this afternoon so I took a ride to some stores to look at a new pair of brown leather shoes and maybe a new sport jacket.
My in-laws are coming in this week for my wedding and I figured a new jacket my be nice for dinner. All the department stores are disgusting and a mess with fake leather garbage. Ok. I go to Jos a banks and they said the only have 1 style in stock. All the other men’s shops had zero stock. Ugly plain sport coats. Like wtf happened, they decided to make garbage in China and now can’t get any stock...... |

Boomer clothes. I’m in construction and have no use for that shit.

Depends on the location and job you have. Off the rack does not work for me, check out Tom James.

I'm rapidly running out of future events that I would consider wearing dress clothes for.
I've never even owned a suit. |
|
|
Only thing I’ve ever owned that was close to a suit was class As. I wore them once.

I plan on not having to interview for another teaching or coaching job.
But, I do have two or three suits and plenty of ties in case I do have to. |

Weddings and funerals.
I used to wear a suit for work. Switched jobs and went business casual. Now I work from home and work in boxers. |

Times change, styles change, I’ve always hated playing dress up, especially wearing a noose. |

All three of my cotton robes are at the cleaners, so I'm rocking my newest grass skirt. Some of the stalks are still sort of greenish!

Custom is the way to go, i only do suit or Tuxedo, not a sport coat kind of guy, but custom pants with a nice shirt, sure.
|

What constitutes a "plain sport coat?"
Are you looking for checkered or a plaid of some sort? |
|
Wear khakis n polo shirts for work thats about as dressed up as i care to be.
|

We're the same age OP. While I love my jeans, cargo shorts, hoodies and boots there is nothing like wearing a well fit suit or sport coat.

LOL, boots, jeans and Ts, from 0500 to 2200, every day. Last wedding I went to, stopped at Walmart on way, bought a dress shirt and better pants. |

Aside from my jeans, a lot of my clothes come from Academy. But if I want some nice clothes, it's Nordstrom's.
You'll pay more than you will at Macy's or Dillard's, but I find the quality higher. YMMV. |

Just go to any mall or retail store. The amount of pajama pants and Crocs should tell you all you need to know about modern men's fashion.

View Quote I typically don’t go off the rack but sometimes I can get away with a nice slim fit jacket off the rack. I got a few belvest jackets and 1 was perfect fit off the rack at my local shop years ago. I guess that’s not a thing anymore. |

I live in Wisconsin, where the normal dress code for anything including weddings and funerals is your least faded pair of jeans and your best Harley Davidson button down or T Shirt.
In lieu of the HD gear, Mossy Oak anything is acceptable. I dress appropriately. Its my code. I always have 2 tailored suits. I learned it from my Dad, who was a high steel worker, but always made sure he dressed appropriately. Because I have a shed of dignity and show respect. Its amazing how many times I'm told its appreciated that I presented myself accordingly. |

Based on the few weddings and funerals that I have been to lately, wearing a suit or even a jacket is quickly going out of style.
I have a decent suit but haven't worn it in a while since I would be overdressed for almost any function I would attend. I do wear a jacket with slacks on occasion and will add a tie sometimes. |

you have to go to my old Italian guy in Gloversville.
great suits |

Church, weddings, funerals, whatever……It was always made clear to me growing up that it’s more important that you’re there than what you’re wearing.

If you want a suit or sport coat, check out a thrift store. Or Ebay.
When it gets dirty, just throw it away, and buy another. Cheaper than dry cleaning. |
|
No one wears that shit
People wear what’s comfortable, and it isn’t that crap. That crap is for try Hards and yes men |

When I went to court once wearing a suit, people there thought I was one of the lawyers. It's that bad these days, wearing decent clothes makes people think you're a professional.

'Men' cannot even buy casual clothes that fit them properly anymore, the fuck you thinking that they would even attempt dress clothes?!

"Dress clothes" are one of the stupidest fashion holdovers ever conceived. Ties should be made extinct and anyone wearing one should be shamed for being a costumed poofter.
Fuck all of that. |
|
Jeans, boots, and a buttoned Dickies or Carhartt work shirt for me. I don't like polo shirts either.
