British version is correct version, dates back to the early 1700's (i.e. older than the USA).

Even though Ontario County is a red county, it's still in NY state.  But yea, it happens a lot of places.  Kid had tnc in his system, too.  Probably took a hit to calm down before the race or something, and it may have messed with his judgement.  Whatever, he did something stupid, a few times, and the family get rewarded for it.  They're using a dead kid as a winning lottery ticket.

I like them a good bit, but don't currently have livestock for them to mind.

Also, BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK!!! All. Night. Long.

I like the Kuvasz, which is very similar, and the Akbash and Anatolian. The Pyr we took in was a sweetheart, though, and convinced me that having one is not off the table.

Ayup. Most people just know about Labs and Goldens, and (mostly) hunters know about Chessies too. Curlies, Flat Coats, and Tollers remain very obscure, although apparently the Curly is the Retriever of choice for hunters in New Zealand.

Bounce off walls energetic. Whereas other Retrievers were bred to sit quietly and patiently in a blind, the Toller was bred to spend the entire day jumping in and out of the water and splashing around on the banks to catch the curiousity of passing waterfowl and lure them into range of the hunter's gun. Somthey're the smallest of the Retrievers, but by far the most energetic.
