It's all good camouflage if your in the right surroundings.

You can be perfectly hidden but take two steps and stand out like a sore thumb.

Yep. I love this one. When I was in Kyrgyzstan in '02 I was friends with some of the Danish EPAF flight crew and I tried my damndest to get a jacket/goretex off of them but they didn't have any extra's to trade.

Brents camo videos are bing worthy.
His little short films make me giggle sometimes.
But his camo effectiveness videos kick ass.

What are some of the better Euro camo patterns? If you were forced to wear one instead of US, what would you wear? Brit? Danish? Swede?

I know nothing but stumbled on this Finnish M05, L6 and L7 stuff. For all I know it sucks.

Depends on where you live and the season. Where I live in Michigan, out foliage and weather are a lot like Germany’s so Flectarn is really good most of the year. Muliticam is probably the best in winter, but doesn’t isn’t dark enough or have enough browns/reds for fall and spring.

The move that European countries are making to multicam type patterns is silly and short-sighted.  I get that they're trying to copy what the US does, but these new designs aren't going to work anywhere near as well what they are replacing.  These multi-terrain patterns are perfect for places like Afghanistan but are going to suck when they get back home to European forests.

Finland though does it absolutely right by having separate Summer, Winter and snow patterns

as an example of what i mean, here is Latvia's new 'multi-terrain' pattern.

I get what they're doing with the larger squares to keep the pattern effective to longer distances, but the colors will never work in a European environment

It's always easy to spot the Yanks when they come here, they stand out like a sore thumb in the woods.

I've got a French BDU jacket, the differences are easier to see in person. The pattern is larger, the greens are darker, and tan is more prominent. I like the cut of the jacket too, right down to the goofy camo dickie.

The US is entirely to thank for that.

A number of European countries had NEVER had a desert variant of their uniform (since their focus was on defense, not foreign adventures) and so when countries volunteered to help in Afghanistan and/or Iraq they literally had to develop desert versions of their existing uniforms.  The early Danish ones were pretty rushed, but ended up looking pretty good.
