So by handing it out beyond their agency, they are breaking the agreement. Hence the removal of the name Guess they figured a FOIA mattered more than the FBI getting unhappy with them. If they referenced it in any emails, they needed to include it. But they can keep them semi-happy with redacting their name maybe. It’s not like the FBI is gonna do anything except maybe not send an agency information next time. When I got the FBI data I put it on a shared drive where instructors could look at it. Their ballistics labs folks are solid. Yeah I would not want to be any agency carrying the 320 right now. Not a fan even before all this stuff happened. Can’t say that Glock didn’t have some issues, but at least the unintentional firing could be tracked down- fingers/cords/straps or other stuff pulling the trigger, or extremely worn early style firing pins and safety parts. Plus you still had to have something serious happen for it to cause the worn safety parts to allow it to fire. Stuff I heard about that supposedly caused a discharge was a PR24 hitting a holster, and a car crash… I would not want to be any SIG employee right now. |

I think it is a fine cartridge, but I fucking dislike mandating its use by everyone in an agency because some people have trouble with a larger cartridge or firearm. And ammo cost is a factor, but honestly it is only a small factor in a training setup- putting people on the range is the very expensive part of the situation. |

I had an M18 and really wanted to love it but: 1) It was not mechanically accurate. First shot was always a flyer because it wouldn’t go into battery firmly enough when chambering a round. 2) Trigger had more creep than a Glock. 3) you could take all the slack out of the trigger and then jostle the slide and it would release the striker. Couldn’t make that happen on my Glock. 4) The manual safety didn’t restrict sear movement. 5) The takedown lever gnawed a hole in my thumb and got really hot when firing 6) I was always afraid to carry it, especially around my kids. |

As another person noted this was the Michigan State Police. IMHO redacting the agency name, but leaving in that it was a state police, in a state starting with the letter M and they carried the P320, made zero sense. Zero. Sig knew the minute they read it which agency it was and a google search taking five minutes would tell any Joe Schmoe what state it was. And it was obtained via a FOIA request, so Sig very likely already had the report by doing their own FOIA. I honestly think the person redacted it to make it sound more secretive and get more clicks. |
