Quoted: Was going to post this. My daughter got married 18 mos. ago and this was the song she and I danced to. I used to sing it to her when she was little and she’d hold my hand and tell me she’s never leaving her daddy to get married. It’s getting dusty in here just thinking about it. Snak The Ripper - Ashes (Fuck Cancer) Came on from a Spotify shuffle playlist while driving to work not a week after I lost my Dad to cancer at 63. Cried the whole hour drive. There’s nothing particularly remarkable about it, but the circumstances surrounding hearing it are etched into my brain. |

Quoted: Amazing Grace always has, but there are some that get to me because they remind me of Martini Butt (late wife/Linda). We saw Jessica Simpson in concert, and when she was singing this song, Linda was slow dancing and holding/leaning against me. Since she died, this one always gets me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeaN7gMjf4w Miranda Lambert did a song about loss, and it stuck with me once I paid attention to the lyrics. I used it to set music to a bunch of pics of Linda, in 2018. (Ten year anniversary of her death). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKDkeRjrZp8 View Quote I love Amazing Grace. This is a great one too. For the same reason. Lyrics. Lecrae - Boasting |

I grew up close to my cousin Ryan. Until we were 17, and a piece of shit “friend” of his was playing with a shotgun, pointed it at Ryan’s head and pulled the trigger.
This song reminds me of Ryan. Johnny Van Zant - Brickyard Road (Official Music Video) |

When the Band Perry song “If I die Young” came out I was driving and had to pull over and have a good cry. It was just a few months after my daughter died. That one hit me hard.

Quoted: Cried at both my brother’s and dad’s services when they played taps. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: If Taps doesn’t tear you up you’re dead inside. Cried at both my brother’s and dad’s services when they played taps. My father was buried at a mountain Baptist church that has been attended by my family for over 150 years. When the bugler played “Taps”, he had hidden himself in the trees around the cemetery and his bugle was pointed at the surrounding hills. The sound echoed between the hills and you really could not tell where it was coming from. I had handled it well up to that point. |
