I just got a giant catalog in my mail from this online store called Fingerhut that's selling some ridiculously overpriced shit on credit. What the hell is this, how the hell did they even get my personal info when I never applied for it??

Not sure if OP is serious. Fingerhut built a business on selling crap on credit to people that had no business having credit. And macreme.

I grew up with a fingerhut. She was a slut.
We all called her fingerbutt. I bet you can guess why. |

I am convinced they found a way to turn a profit charging off debt by selling dogshit products to fiscally irresponsible idiots. |

I remember my mom used to get their catalog in the mail back in the 80's.

I used to get catalogs from them, back in 06-07.
Started shortly after buying a house. |
|
Wasn't fingerhut the place you went to to buy shit with your green stamps from the grocery store?
Holy shit I remember going there as a kid with my mom in the 70s |
|
I guess I had long forgotten who they are.
If someone had asked, I would have said they were the ones that sold such things as A Round Tuit. The round wooden disk that was marked as A Round Tuit. You give it to whoever it is in your house who is always going to do whatever when they get around to it. Now I'm going to have to try to remember who that was |

ah the 90's
glock 23 just 24 payments of 21 dollars each month - get the credit you deserve |

They’re like the older Service Merchandise, The Sharper Image, or soon to be gone...Bed Bath and Beyond.

Just went and looked. An Xbox One S 1tb is $38 a month for a total of $499.
$299 at your local Walmart. I suspect a Venn diagram of Fingerhut buyers and Biden voters looks like a single circle. |

My parent use to get their catalog you could apply for the overpriced fingerhut credit card

I'm 64, when I was a kid everybody's grandma had a Fingerhut catalog on their coffee table.

Isn't Fingerhut the catalog that had the "personal massager"?
|

We got the hard cover Bennett Brothers Blue Book for several years.
They sold gold table ware. I was impressed, no one I had ever been around had anything so fancy. Also sold pitiful cheap brass instruments aimed at the gullible. Mom and dad wouldn't think about buying from the place, but the catalog was cheap entertainment. |

That is why everything is overpriced. |

LMBO
It seemed that they were one of the common denominators and poor choices of every no-skilled, single mother {with too much baggage} that I ever ran across in the 90's |

My parents got the Fingerhut catalog in the 50’s-60’s, I don’t think they ever bought anything from it, but I always heard it was junk.

I just placed an order this week, 2 name brand items. Yes they are overpriced, but I'm trying to rebuild my credit, so I'll just keep ordering small items and make my payments.

They are to catalog business ad Aarons rent to own is to brick and mortar electronics store. Like getting money from a loan shark to buy a shower curtain.

Fingerhut started out in st cloud mn selling seat covers. Then moved into other mail order stuff. Their clam to fame was you could make a 2 dollar payment on a set of bathroom towels for a year. The problem? Most customers made these small payment on a whole shopping cart of different items; continous payments. The payment book was included in your shipping box. Ted Deikel's fingerhut employed most of St cloud. When Fingerhut's owner, Federated Department Stores, decided to sell or close the company in 2002, (Tom)Petters teamed with former Fingerhut chairman Ted Deikel to buy the Fingerhut name, customer list, and buildings in St. Cloud, Minnetonka, and Plymouth, Minnesota and Tennessee. The acquisition closed in June 2002, and all of Petters's operations moved into Fingerhut's former headquarters in Minnetonka. Deikel assumed direction of Fingerhut Direct Marketing Inc., which created catalogs, and Petters operated Fingerhut Fulfillment, based at a St. Cloud distribution center.
