MIRAMAR, Fla. - Ten geese drowned in a South Florida lake after a homeowners association's attempt to trap, sedate and euthanize them went horribly awry.

The SilverLakes homeowners association in Miramar hired a company, Pest Wildlife Pro, to remove 25 geese because some residents found them to be loud pooping machines, although others saw them as majestic.

The company's owner fed the geese bread laced with sedatives, but a loud car spooked the drugged birds and they flew off.

Ten fell into the lake and drowned, while he found the other 15 and euthanized them offsite.

City officials put the blame on the association, sending the officers a letter that it now faces a likely fine.

I hate Canadian Geese. They poop all over the sidewalk, block traffic, and think they are bad ass.

I wish you could own a flak gun and blow them out of the sky all day. They are pests.

Identify a non-problem to solve.
Find a relative or buddy who provides that service.
Give them a no-bid, no-spec, cost-plus contract.
Don't oversee performance at all.
Pay invoices within 24hrs.
Leave the mess for the next board to clean up.

Geese are the rural version of pidgeons. As a child, we didn't have any, but had ducks by the millions. Now, huge flocks of white flying carp invade the fields and ducks are rarely seen. Thousands of dark geese are around also.

Being Florida, if you sedated geese I would have guessed you'd get sedated gators a few minutes later.

The plan was to kill them from the start. The only problem was that some of them flew away and drowned in a pond before they passed out and could be killed where they lay.

I imagine some Karen got upset because they saw the dead geese in the pond.

It was probably egyptian geese not Canadian geese.
We got lots of canadians that shit everywhere here but thats another story.
And fuck them all.

I have many on my lake,
They fight and honk at any time.
They are non native, invasive assholes.

They will walk 5 feet outside my bedroom window at 6am and honk like crazy.
They are dumb as a box of rocks only eclipsed by the iguanas who may be even dumber.

Fuck Canadian Geese.

Damn things shit all over our business property every year, and fuck up our state required storm water testing. Have to do quarterly testing, and when the storm water tests positive for E.Coli we have to keep renewing the testing and permits. Costs me a shit ton. State/City keep our hands tied on purpose, I’m sure.
